Vodafone lands Blackberry Torch; Up for Pre-order!

The wait is finally over- that is if you are in the UK- Research in Motion’s Blackberry Torch is now available for pre-order with an expected shipping date of 27 September. The Plan starts from about £25 per month for a 24 month contract, this will include 3000 landline minutes, 500 mobile minutes, 250 text messages, a data plan of 500MB and a payment of £170.21 for the handset.

If you are looking to sign up for an 18 month contract then you will have to pay £170.21 for the handset and at least £30 per month. If you will like to get the handset free of charge and on an 18 month contract then you will be expected to pay a minimum of a £40 per month

Other UK carriers e.g. O2 and Orange are expected to stock the handset with rumours that it will be released on O2 on October 4th although there aren’t any pricing details yet. A spokesman from Orange was quoted to have said “The new BlackBerry Torch 9800 Smartphone with BlackBerry 6 will be coming soon from Orange UK. We will keep you posted with more details as we get closer to availability.”

The Blackberry Torch 9800 is the first device from RIM to ship with the BlackBerry 6 OS, some of its other features include a 3.2 inch touch screen, a slide-out Qwerty and a 5MP zero shutter camera. Some have said the Blackberry Torch is probably the best Blackberry yet so expectation on this handset will be very high. Whether or not it meets the expectations of its users will be a discussion for another day.

    Thumbs up

I think the touch screen and key pad in one device is really cool and the specifications listed are cool; though expecting more from RIM on the bb9800 device. can't wait till I get one
