Help-trying to watch movies on bb tour
I had tried searching the forums, but am still confused about how to put a movie (ripped dvd) onto my tour and watch it. I apologize for the length of this post, but really don't know what info is needed and what I am doing wrong, so...
I am currently running os 5.0.230 and have a 2 GB media card w/ 1.4 mb free , I have a lot of free memory on my tour. I have a mpeg 4 file of a dvd movie that is 480 X 320 resolution, data rate 564 kbps total bitrate 692 kbps, 15 frames per second and audio rate is 128 kps. When I try to transfer this file from my pc to the media card on the bb., I get an error and the file that is transferred to the sd card says it is not supported when I try to open it in media player on the tour.
I have avs video conversion software and windows 7 (64 bit) on my pc and converted the above referenced file to an avi file (shown to be for bb 81xx in avs software). This file transfers to the tour card and plays for about 6 minutes (it's a full length movie). It then freezes the tour and I need to reboot. One other thing, I also am not able to fast forward at all during the first few minutes that play normally on the video. Same thing happens each time I try to play the movie...(also happens with other mpeg 4 files that I have tried to convert as well, so I don't think it's a corrupted file)
I am unsure if the
1) problem is .230
2) if the files that I am using (trying to view) are incorrect for the tour
3)if the aVS software is outdated for the tour and therefore creating incorret files. If this is the case, I have read about dvd convert to bb and video convert to bb programs, but I am not sure what the difference is between the two and if I need both to convert a dvd to a file that I can view on my tour.
4) none of the above
Any help is greatly appreciated. I am not very tech saavy and this is my first bb, so if there are any suggestions, please explain in layperson terms
Thanks so much!!!!
