Verizon Drops Plan To Charge $2 Fee

Looks like the $2 convenience fee for those who pay online or by telephone has now been scraped. Good to see Verizon listening to customer feedback on this. It really was a bad idea to begin with. Customers were already talking about having a mail-in your bill month to overload Verizon with mail processing. Here is the official statement from Verizon:

Verizon Wireless has decided it will not institute the fee for online or telephone single payments that was announced earlier this week

The company made the decision in response to customer feedback about the plan, which was designed to improve the efficiency of those transactions. The company continues to encourage customers to take advantage of the numerous simple and convenient payment methods it provides.

“At Verizon, we take great care to listen to our customers. Based on their input, we believe the best path forward is to encourage customers to take advantage of the best and most efficient options, eliminating the need to institute the fee at this time,” said Dan Mead, president and chief executive officer of Verizon Wireless.

Did Verizon have to even subject users to this bad idea in the first place?
At least they have now officially announced the removal of this $2 fee to their benefit.

    Happy New Year !!

Sometimes I think these types of events are staged. Think about it. Verizon says it's going to charge a ridiculous $2 fee and then when customers obviously get upset they recant and say they will not. Verizon now looks like the good guy and a company that listens to their customers when the whole time they knew how it was going to play out.

I have to admit it Joe, you're absolutely correct!

In the end, they are not the good guy, they are the sneaky guy to some customers.

A standard tactic used by businesses and governments is the two steps forward, one step back. Do two bad things and then take one away so the people will only focus on the one you took away.
