Been getting a lot of calls here lately at work in the last week, what with PRL changes and all kinds of things happening at the two companies. Just wanted to throw this tidbit out there.
If your data has stopped working, you're getting 1x, and you've checked line 1/line 2 issues (if you haven't updated to 4.5 for those Curves/Pearls out there), here's the trick for you to avoid calling into Tech.
1.) Go into manual programming (##000000)
2.) Scroll to SIP Password at the bottom, Alltel Customers place "alltel" (without the quotes), and Verizon place "vzw" (without the quotes).
3.) Hit the menu key and save.
When your phone comes back on, should be back on the 1XEV. This tends to happen in areas mostly where VZW and Alltel have intersecting towers.
Also as well for customers on Alltel who have been having issues in the past few days with data connections or phones showing roaming when they shouldn't be, check your PRL on your devices. A few days ago there was an issue where native Alltel towers were pushing Verizon PRLs to devices. Set your device to home only and *228 Opt. 2 to update. Alltel BB Prls should start with 400XX and Verizon should be somewhere in the 5XXXX series, probably 51XXX currently depending on area.
Just some tips from us here on the technical end, trying to stem the flow of questions. Haha.
