Our friends over at GizmoFusion posted this, giving credit to a VZW source. If it happens, you can upgrade to any phone at the 2yr renewal price, from May 20, 2010 until June 30, 2010. Sounds like a great deal. Let's keep our ears and eyes open !!!

I wondered why the ball was getting bigger...then it HIT me.Follow me on Twitter @Orio_
Don't quote me on this but I don't think that this will be offered to everyone. It says that Select high value and high risk customers will be receiving this offer. We will just have to sit back and see what happens I guess.
Oh I'm sure if you call them and ask them what a high risk customer is and high value blah blah blah, they'll give you this upgrade. You're damn straight I'll be calling them for this when the 9650 is released...Whenever that is, hopefully the 20th!
I wanna save this for the S3. Hopefully they will do something similar.
Droooooiiiiiid!

High Risk customers are usually customers who are out of contract/and or want to cancel the service. A Highly Valued customer is someone who has been on a 79.99 price plan (data not included) for at least 6months and hasn't had a past due balance in that time frame. This document is also from Eroes which is the indirect retail system. Leads me to believe customer service may not even be giving this information since they use ACSS.

I have three lines that would be eligible. I may use one to get a gasp...Incredible to play with. I'm just not too excited about the 9650 right now.

As an S1 user I am also very interested in the gasp....Incredible. I want a touch screen, but no one knows the "if's, when's" etc. of the S3....I am not very patient.

I don't want to seem negative but this does seem to be a detour from the Bold 2 once you upgrade and the bold hits the market you have to wait. I personally believe they are trying to stop us from flooding the market for the Bold 2. But this is only my opinion. To me if I were in marketing trying to keep up with supply and demand makes perfect since. once you upgrade you have got at least another year on contract so unless you add a line or buy it out right Or the possibility that it will be released in that time frame for some reason I don't see it.![]()

I'm fine with my S2 so I'll wait until November and then decide what I want. Jumping ship now doesn't make sense.
any confirmation on if this has actually gone into effect?

I called yesterday, no real confirmation...or maybe I did not qualify. I will call again today and report back.
UPDATE 5/20/2010: I called Verizon CS and no such promotion exists. The only Smartphone (Incredible is what I am looking at - sorry all!) upgrade offer that currently exists is the $199.99 which includes a $100 online rebate. This is good through 5/31, but nothing is known after that...yes I did ask about a June 1 promo, but CS has yet to get (or share) info.

I talked to the vzw rep at my job and he had no idea what I was talking about. He's usually pretty forthcoming with this sort of stuff.

Did any of you read my post lol... I told you that CS would have no clue what you were talking about... This is for Indirect Stores if you go to best buy and ask about it I bet they would know.

Hodges, I did read your post, thank you. I called Best Buy Mobile today and their pricing is the same as the annual upgrade pricing ($199.99) as offered through Verizon website. No NE2 early upgrade pricing which would further reduce this pricing.
This issue should now be considered closed and dead!:17:

I did not give my number. I asked specifically if there was an "early upgrade promotion or offer" and I indicated that my contract would be up in two months. He took his time and checked, be he said he could not find any such offer.

This is actually a legitimate offer. I called CS to ask about another line on my account and the rep threw this offer at me without me even asking about it. Again like I said before this is not for everyone you have to meet the requirements. However if you threaten to cancel would VZW consider you a high-risk customer and grant you the promotion? Give them a call and find out :cool2:
