Thread: Verizon PTT Information Online?

The 9650 BlackBerry Tour 2/Bold 2 is many things. Add media hungry to the list. Immediately following the leaked BGR report from yesterday, we have more 9650 goodness to report! It seems that not only will this device FINALLY bring an official 5.0 update from the boys in red, but it may also bring a new "Push-To-Talk" service with it.

Crackberry is reporting they have found some users having the ability to add the PTT service to their account through the Verizon WAP website. Now, while this does NOT mean the service will actually work (YET), it does lend credibility to the timeline we've discussed at BBOS for the release of this device.

9630 AND 9650 fans be ready! Hopefully, it's now just a matter of days (translated? a couple of weeks...) before we have all that we have been waiting for. EXCEPT the nacho maker.

PTT! That might actually take me away from my Storm. I do sort of remember when I got my last newsletter I looked at devices and notice a couple where it was listed in device specs. I didn't even know they offered that service. Hmmmm. Or maybe I just glanced at a sprint page. I don't know.

Am using the latest leaked version for the Tour (.530) and noticed the PTT application on the O/S.

Welcome to ! Is there any possible way we could get a screen shot or two?

I know its off topic but can you point me in the right direction to get that background for me tour? I can't find it in the wallpaper forum

Thanks Natemz, I must have looked over it because it wasn't a phone thread.

In a world filled with unlimited talk plans, unlimited text messaging, facebook, twitter and other social networking apps, why do we need PTT? I can already call whoever I want, whenever I want, so why bother with this service? I assume (we all know where this gets us) that you will only be able to PTT with other VZW users.... bad enough I need to track net handles, screen names, etc, but now I have to know which carrier you use as well? I will pass and save 5 bucks.

For some people the advantage is the simplex(or one way talk) of the PTT.. it can be a pain in certain situations to have someone talking over you when you are directing them.. and also they are trying to find a way to steal bus. from the radio(2way radios) industry
