    Verizon Employee Discount question

    I need a sincere advice from a Verizon employee, I work for a company that have a contract with verizon for their cell phones, meaning that our company is giving us an 18% discount for employees who have Verizon as their personal cell phone account. When the Storm 1 was first released i was getting my 18% discount from plan and features which i've always had the 29.99 data plan, few months after i got a 2 line with a 2nd storm 1 and again i was able to apply the discount to that line as well with no problems. When i decided to bring my 3 Alltel lines and turn them into Verizon lines, somehow when they did that they took the Alltel account # and used it instead of using my Verizon account #, so they brought in the 2 Storms into the 3 soon to be Verizons with an alltel account number, keeping in mind that 2 out of the 3 soon to be verizons were blackberries and i was told to purchase all 3 verizon phones in order to be able to get a discount on those lines as well....

    Long story short, ever since then i have been fighting for them to apply my discounts to those lines as they were and they have yet to get it right, now they are telling me that the only way for me to get the 18% discount on all of the lines, they have to be on the $34.99 or higher plan.. That to me sounds like BS, can someone shine some light on me about this issue please?

    So 2 BB Storms were getting a discount on both $29.99 data plans and service plan plus 18% on accessories for almost 5 months with no problems.

    Hope this helps here is how the discount set up works.
    The initial discount off the plan, in your case 18%, comes off the primary line(I am assuming you have a family plan.) all other lines do NOT get discounts on the base plan (usually the 9.99 a month) for instance if you are on the 700 min talk and text at 99.99 for the first 2 lines it breaks down like this
    1-primary 90.00 -18% discount
    2-9.99 no dis
    3-9.99 no dis
    4-9.99 no dis
    5-9.99 no dis.

    Now when you add features (like the data plan, any data plan 9.99-44.99) on any line that will also receive the discount. Now I am assuming again you have a family plan with 2 BB and everything else regular phone this is how it should break down

    1- Primary 700min talk and text 90.00 a month -18% discount, 29.99 unlimited email and web -18% discount
    2-9.99 no dis 29.99 unlimited email and web -18% discount
    3-9.99 no dis
    4-9.99 no dis
    5-9.99 no dis.

    what this means is each 29.99 data plan actually costs you 24.59 a month per line, and your bill would look something like this

    1-73.80+24.59
    2-9.99+24.59
    3-9.99
    4-9.99
    5-9.99

    162.94 before taxes. Does this help? all lines dont get the discount unless they are a primary, meaning unless you put every line on a single line plan (base 450 39.99 plus texting) every line wont get that. Just primary, and then any line that has a texting, data, vz feature on it should receive it as well, as long as its not the base 9.99 amonth or depending on your plan 19.99 or even 29.99 a month. Just an FYI 5 single lines with no data plans or texting with your discount 163.95 before taxes.

    To me it sounds that she is not giving me the 2nd discount on my second line as you got posted.

    I am not saving as i was promised when merging all lines together...
    so the deal about needing to be on a $34.99 Plan in order to get a discount is nothing but a bunch of bs?

    edit: btw total bill with the information provided is sitting between $305 - $308
    if you need me to provide you my account number i can PM it to you so you can take a look at it for me please. i would rather get an honest review from a fellow bb adict than the typical rep on the other side of the phone.

    Ok first the 34.99 thing is true for the plan discount. To get 18% off your base monthly plan you must have a qualifying plan og 34.99 or higher.. does that part make sense?


    Second. Double check with your employer that it includes feature discounts, i know your line says it but doesnt always mean its included. after that call into VZW CS and ask them to look up your discount and then ask (as nice as possible) why it hasnt applied to the other data packages. For an example my wife works for university hospitals, not to be confused with university health care. The reason i bring this up is she was getting the discount for university health care which sucks compared to university hospitals, the codes and names are very very similar so make sure they have the right company listed first. If you still have trouble after the call to CS let me know. Dont go to a store, they are a waste of time lol.

    check this out, this is what i was told by our Verizon Business Account Executive (Martha McCraw)...

    After auditing employee lines, they found that discounts were being attached to features that were not supposed to be.
    This information came directly from the contract team, so I'm confident that it is correct.

    This is the same situation as the other data discount email that I addressed. The customer is not going to get a discount on the data feature if the feature is added to the $9.99 share line.

    After reading this here is what I think happened. The first rep that told you that you would save by switching didnt check your companies discount policy correctly. It sounds as if it only applies to the primary line on the account. There are not alot of those out there, but there are a few. You may be chasing something at this point that isnt going to be fixed. I would go to the rep that originally told you that you would save the money and work up from there. I hate to say this in this manner but you were 'lied' too.. They probably just looked and saw you received a discount from your employer and assumed that the data feature discount applied to all lines. It was an obvious mistake and one that is made far to often. There is not much if anythign I will be able to do to help you. Was the original rep at a store or on the phone?

    she was at a verizon store, but last i checked she resigned from verizon and do did the manager at that time... :banghead:

    so you said that the company sounds like it only has a discount that applies to the primary line, and you said theres not alot of those type of discounts out there but there are a few, right? what can our company do to fall in to the "apply the feature discounts on all lines"? do they have to pay more? or is it as simple as picking up the phone and telling them we need that feature for our employees?

    I believe they would have to re-work their contract with VZW. There are stipulations involved that I know nothing about. It could be that the company you work for has a fairly old contract to. The best thing I can tell you is have the person in charge of that call in and see what has to be changed in order to do that.

    HMmm, as far as name I think its just multi line feature discount (covers any data, text or other feature you would add on anyline) and I would just maybe ask her to speak with who ever the contact she has is.. usually an account manager or sales person.

    i just took over our family plan contract with VZW becuase i have an employee discount as well and i told them i was taking it over to take advantage of my discount and they never said it was only on my line, looks like ill be goin through that same type of bs.

    hmmm...

    I'm not aware of any such discounts. Gamewell is at the highest discount level possible.

    so whats an easier way to tell her that shes dumb and that she doesnt know what shes talking about? lol

    i also saw this on the discount page towards the bottom of the page when i registered my number.

    *Discounts are available only to eligible calling plans $34.99 or higher. Up to five (5) lines are eligible to receive an employee discount and they must be on the same account. Family Share secondary lines are not eligible for discounts

    Doesn't it mean that since i have one account number and 5 lines under the same account number total with a calling plan of $130 and data features on 4 out of 5 phones that i am suppose to get the employee discount?

    The way that reads with the secondary lines not getting anything. No they shouldnt but like my wifes plan the secondary lines get feature and data discounts just not a discount off the base plan

    ok so you're paying 9.99 for your wife's line plus for example data feature of 29.99.

    so she is not getting a discount from the 9.99, only from the 29.99 data (feature) plan, right?

    that means that all my other lines are "secondary" lines and the ones with features should be getting a discount, right?

    yes. this is how my plan looks

    700 min select(all text included)
    Primary line
    base plan90-22% discount
    Email and web 29.99-22% discount

    2nd line
    base plan 9.99
    email and web 29.99-22% discount

    3rd line
    base plan 9.99

    ohhh i got you, so what i need to do is i need to get off the "family shared plan" and get a "Select" plan and that way verizon can give me credit for my 4 blackberry data plans. Yes yes?

    So that explains why when i only had 2 Blackberries my discount was applying on both of them. Because when i moved my 3 lines in, they offered me a family shared plan (who knows why?) and by doing that, Verizon said "the heck!?!, we're taking your discount off since you are on a family share plan!"
    So in order for me to save on all 4 blackberries data plans i have to change calling plan....
    Any recommendations Jnepsa?
    So far as of now we all have M2M, Unlimited text, Unlimited Data, Unlimited Pic Msg, and 10 circle friends. We use overall between 1500-1900 minutes monthly.


    Also, you have been very helpful and patience with me, i greatly appreciate it!

    You could try but the select plan is a family share plan. I think you company doesn't allow secondary discounts. That's the way I read the disclaimer you posted.
