Calls muting automatically????

I have had my S2 for a week, prior to this I had 4 S1's. Each of these including the S2 I have had calls go to mute automatically, the other person can't hear me and I have to end the call. It happens every now and then not every call! I thought when I got the S2 it would stop, but it has happened about 3 times since last week. On the S1's I tried using no apps, no themes (except zen), redownloading apps, per VZW's suggestions and nothing seems to make a difference. This is driving me crazy!!!!! Does anyone think this could be due to me being an Alltel/VZW conversion customer? I am running out of patience with this! :aargh4::crazy::phone:

If it's happening with more than one device, I would suspect it's an issue with the carrier's network.

Thanks sunkast, that's what I have been thinking as well. I haven't called VZW since it happened with the S2. I may have the time on Friday, we're supposed to get more snow Thursday night and we will probably have a snow day on Friday! (ahhh, the perk of working in a school!)

A few questions to help us fully understand the issue:

1. Is the phone actually going into Mute mode and you are unable to shut it off? Or is it just that people can no longer hear you and the phone remains un-muted according to the on-screen display?
2. After it mutes, does pressing the on-screen Mute key or the top-right shoulder key (also a Mute key during calls) change anything?
3. After it mutes, can the person on the other end hear touch-tones if you press some numbers on the keypad? If they can, this would at least rule out a carrier issue.

We had the same issue at our house. Its a conversion area as well. I have the S2 and my wife has the 8330. She could hardly make a call at times. I called vzw and explained the issue. They opened a trouble ticket and 3 days later everything was fine. When the tech guy called back he said they found the problem and to dial *228 option 2. After I did that things worked great. So I guess you may want to have them open a ticket and see what they find.

I had that issue once.. Try plugging your Berry headphones or a headset in while on a call and then unplugging them thats how I got mine to come back, its like it got stuck in headset even though I didnt use a headset, and now if it continues get it replaced.

AHAAAA! We think the muting issue is due to the PRL I am using. I was looking at a friends storm who has always been VZW to see what her PRL, it is 51689. My PRL is 40059 which is Alltel. Since hers was different I called VZW to see if this could be the culprit of my problems and they said, yes it could. *228 any option did not do anything, VZW tried to push the 51689 PRL for this area to my phone. The push didn't work, so they started a trouble ticket for the engineers to push the PRL to me. I am waiting for this to happen. I will report back my findings.

Not to blast anyone but I would be very very very suprised if that is the cause of your problems, if your prl was bad you would just be dropping calls not muting them... if you want to try to get a new prl back up your contacts and then do a security wipe from your phone then do *228 option 1 and see if you get the other PRL..
