    If so, what's better for voice calls full bars of 1X or one bar of 1XEV

    1XEV means you are on 3G which is needed for browser and data.

    I know that, but dont' pretty much all verizon towers broadcast EV implying that 1X is roaming? Or is that assumption wrong.

    And does 1XEV have a stronger signal for voice

    The way i understand it is that as long as you are in verizon's network there is no roaming. If you go outside the network say canada or mexico then roaming charges will will be charged.
    1x Iis the voice part of the equation the EV is the data.
