    i just called and verified that the deal is only available for the west coast customers. he said that eventually it will be rolled out nationwide.

    Hopefully that is the case. I just got back from the VZW store, I told them that a relative had told me about the upgrade and they seemed to have no clue what I was talking about. The sales rep then got a manager and asked her, and she said it may have been something based on the account. I also got to play with the Droid for a few minutes while I was waiting. If I do get this upgrade I may be jumping ship to Android, the droid is pretty nice.

    Thats BULL do they think that there are only issues on the west coast, the Storm sucks on the East Coast too!!! :haha::haha::haha::haha:

    I called today and talked a lady. she was familiar with the deal and she looked me up and said i was not eligible at this time but to wait and in the next few weeks they will be having deals for the holidays and she said she thought i would be happy with the offer. I don't know but this very well may confirm the west coast first that was mentioned above. I am in the Midwest so im guessing here soon ill get the good news. just makes me sad she looked it up and said i wasn't eligible so makes me wonder if i ever will be.

    I called today also and she told me that I wouldnt be eligible until my 1 year from owning the storm with a year left on my contract. She told me that Id get the $179 price plus another $50 off for being a VIP. If my contract was up Id get another $50 off. So Ill be heading down to the local store on 12/18.

    I did not get the email. I printed out the flier shown on this thread and brought it to my Verizon store. They looked at the flier and checked my number on the computer and said I was eligible for the upgrade. Plus they took the $100 off right there, I didn't have to mail it in. I was 10 months into my 2 year contract and I live in the South so I don't think it's a regional thing. I would try printing it out and taking it in. Couldn't hurt.

    Well I went ahead and made the call yesterday....VZW CS rep was fantastic...no runaround at all..very helpful...great experience....

    New Droid should be in Friday!

    I called in after getting the email and got my phone Tuesday. Storm 2 is much better! I was only about 9months into my contract! So I don't think its how long you have left on your contract to get the deal. Overall Verizon cs was great. And now I'm happy by owning this storm compared to the first one.

    My Storm died on Sunday went into the store they ordered me another S1 I asked about the upgrade to S2 They would 'nt do It I called Customer Service an asked the same thing I was told I woukd have to wait until my 1 yr was up 12/1/09. She did say that there would be better deals for upgrades After black friday

    I didn't get an email but I did get a hard copy in the mail. I also noticed (on mine) that if you have more than one storm on your plan (family plan) that both phones are eligible for the upgrade. I've also never had to return my storm. I have returned my wife's once due to the back button not working. Now I just need to come up with the money to upgrade both phones.

    I bought my storms last march and haven't gotten any offer from them. Both storms have been replaced once each. But, I just found this link via dealswoot that will let you buy the droid for $119.99 + 35 activation fee with only a 2 year contract extension. I'm thinking about it.

    Okay strike 1 for me, called regular VZW CS and was told to call the number on the flier. The flier I have (from the photo at the start of this thread) has no number on it. Anyone have that number so I can give them a call? Or should I just call VZW CS back and keep trying to get a rep 'in the know'?

    Thanks for the tip Rel. Was there anything specific you told them? i.e. received this email/snail mail, want to take advantage of it and upgrade, of course being as nice as possible without sounding fake. I'm always nice to CS reps even when they piss me off, since when I started out in banking 11 years ago I was on the phones and know what that is like being on their end of it. Any other pointers before I try back? I do know that I'm marked as a VIP in their systems thanks to my buddy who I got my Verizon acct through, a guy I graduated HS with.

    Okay so I just had an 'ah ha' moment here....if this can be done in the store as previously stated....and I've got a best friend who works for VZW as a sales rep in the store....who listed me as a vip in their systems....Isn't there a chance HE could do it for me if I took this flier into the store? Since apparently it's up to the reps discretion anyway right? I know there are some who aren't eligible who have gotten it, so its obviously up to the rep.....I'm gonna try to call him now, I might have been banging my head against the wall for no reason. (when IS a good reason to bang your head against a wall though?)

    Jnespa....any idea on that since I think you work for VZW as well?

    If he is nothing more than a sales rep then the chances are low unless he is in good with the manager. The sales rep's do not have the power or codes to change that. So its going to be a toss up if he can get you anymore than where the next rep would. Dont hold it against him if he cant
