Thread: Is creating a Theme Difficult?

I've never attempted it, but have always wanted to. I pretty technically inclined and know my way around the storm. Thoughts on difficulty level?

from what I hear...Creating a nice, clean theme can be very time consuming.
So im guessing it might be a little hard.
Never tried it though

Well since there is no leak / hybrid on the docket today. I'm downloading the programs right now and will give it a shot.

Its actually pretty easy, fun too! Though you can make it more difficult depending on the complexity....

Best way to start is to use the default theme that you can load with Plazmic and just start changing things one by one. Beware when changing the font because some types have been known to cause issues with exporting.

My first theme took me over 30 hours, but a lot of that was trial and error.

Well I just got done installing Plazmic, I will give it a go. Definitely will post.

Ok well after a few hours I decided since I have not seen one I would go for an oriental theme. Not done yet but any thoughts or suggestions?

Home screen banner: the following objects are outside the allowed boundary's.
Wi-Fi indicator

I dont think it is, anyone have any ideas?

what is the dimensions of the banner?

and did you move the wifi icon off the template?
even though we don't have wifi, leave the icon and it shouldn't show up in the final product

In the first box, where you can reposition you home screen icons, there is a check box that says full screen banner...check that and you should be fine

I see that you are using a zen theme, unfortunately that option I stated is not available.
Neo stated a couple of post back what is the size of the banner?
You can adjust the banner width, but all banner items must stay with those boundries...
If you want to move them all over the page to different locations then you will have to use a custom theme.

The banner to me seems large enough, nothing is out of it that I can tell. There are even icons on top of the wi fi one.

Try changing the banner width to 70 and see if you can export

For anyone out there wondering what a first time theme builder thinks.

Difficult, no......time consuming yes.

4 hours of work so far and maybe....maybe 20% the way I want it.
