Questions: Trying this for the first time

So I downloaded plazmic 4.7, the patch for the tour, the 4.7 simulator and the simulator doesnt seem to work. I'm trying to just create a simple theme for my Tour. Questions are

    1. What simulator should I use? I'm getting errors

    2. Is the simulator necessary to test out the theme first or can you just save it and load it to your phone to test?

    3. Is it possible to take someone else's theme and load it into the theme builder so you can tweek it to your specific liking?

    4. For anyone on verizon's tour, I asked the question about the gps indicator showing on the home screen and wanted to know if there was a way to remove it. A few said no, now I notice it in the theme builder and was wondering if anyone was successful in removing it there. I can move it around but havent seen where I can disable it.

I guess those are my questions for now

I can speak to a few of your questions. I have not played with the patch so I'm not sure about #1. #2 I usually just load on the phone to test. If it doent work your not going to crash your phone or anything. #3 no you cannot load other peoples themes into plazmic and alter them. #4 again I haven messed with it but there should be an option to not display it. I will look and let you know if I find anything.

I can help you out with your questions

    1. Launch the Simulator seperately. Do not launch it from Plazmic. Start the sim and then use the "load java program command" under "file". point it to the export ALX files.

    2. The sim is not necessary. I test on my phone a lot.

    3. As Rellims said, no. Not unles they provide the theme file to you.

4.. No you cannot remove the gps icon, sorry.

True, but not ideal. Plazmic should allow the modification of it. without using hacks:22:

Thanks all for your replies, where would a good place to hide it be?

Also, when I tried to load my theme via DM I get an error "No additional applications designed for your device were found"
Any way to make it an OTA to install?

That error usually means you don't have an OS for your device installed on your computer.

BerryReview has an excellent article on how to host a theme for OTA installation. Though you need a host that allows you to modify the .htaccess file on your site.

We also offer OTA hosting for qualified members of BBOS. Check the link below for more info.

If you are just starting off I wouldn't suggest trying to hide it. It involves creating banners and adding them in composer and exporting svg files. If you can just find a place to put it on your screen it might be better since you are just beginning.

And as Sun said, we can host the theme for you.

And you are correct. I had an older OS on my PC. I uninstalled that and installed the 4.7 OS as well as the 4.7 DM and it worked. At some point I may use BBOS to host me, thanks

Yes, you are right. Actually I wish I could use a theme I found here and just tweek it just a bit. For example Hulkster has a today theme that I like, kinda simple looking(hope I didnt insult him or any other theme developer for that matter, I try em all ) but I wish I could just change the calendar homescreen fonts/color. But maybe I can do something similar, practice practice.
