Thread: SVG basic tutorial??

Ok guys/ gals, im thinkin after all the questions i get,like "how did u make all the icons scatter", or "How do i make the dock reappear", of just putting together a basic tutorial on SVGs. It seems most people are headed in the right direction but dont know where the road goes! So Id like a lil input from the people that will be reading it, on what youd like to see. (ie: Layers, docks, amination, etc) Im not quite the expert at it but with the last 3 themes i made I think i got a pretty good understanding of how to manipulate SVGs. So tell me what you're lookiing for and ill do my best to break it all down! :beerchug:

i think that a bassic information on a hidden dock could be a good place to start

You know I would be loving some help...big fat noob here

Hidden docks here too. Playing around with it, Ive got a bit of an understanding now. The animations involved with the dock gets me stuck.

I think this a great idea! What I think might be even better is a basic tutorial from start to finish to show everyone how to create their own theme. I know that it is time consuming, but I think everyone would appreciate a tutorial by you.

Well guys im slowly working on this, it IS very time consuming and my new job has me quite busy and worn down by days end. So im sorry if i got anyones hopes up too soon but theres SOOO much to try to explain, and the time to try to explain it is just not in my schedule, so its a really slow process.

BBC, im already ahead of ya on that !!! Im goin to give a basic outline of composer...and then outline how to fit what it does into theme building. Also some basics on the building process. IE: the do's and don'ts... and what you can and CANT do... so be patient guys and ill try to get this out to you. I may even break it down into "chapters" so i can post as i go...

Edit: Ok so if i can get my web cam to show my screen good enough... (runnin my pc onna 32" flat screen) Ill attempt to make a video tutorial!! just came up with the idea... so lemme werk on it.

ok well the video tutorial is out, my BS web cam cant quite capture my screen with out completely distorting everything.. so back to typing !!!

ok so i set up my old 15" monitor and im gonna give it a try running an extended desktop... but im sure it wont look too good with my lighting and this crappy cam... so ill let ya know.

Tiiigggghhhht!!!

Uploading my first Vid to youtube now... This is a trial run to see how it works out... its just a quick basic on composer, nothing elaborate.

Just gonna warn you all i may bore you with my voice..but at least the vid came out good ..lol


FYI, Im on DSL so uploading a 300mb vid.... this might take awhile...i should have it posted before i goto werk in the morn!

On a good note ... OP updated with link to my Test Run .... As soon as i get some feedback ill start on the next chapter.

Hey Drukan just watched your video! Great job....even i could understand it! LOL cant wait for the next chapter!

So two observations

1 - wish I had this 2 weeks ago before I spent 6 hours of my life figuring out the button to app screen thing (not in anyway your fault)

I use the Official version Downloaded from the plazmic site. CDK 4.7. It has been recently patched( though still buggy) The currrent build is 4.1.0.19 Apr 3 2009.

The video is great, I don't see anything that's need to be changed at all. Hell I figured out my few feeble attempts at using Plazmic had me putting the cart before the horse ( I was using the theme builder first not composer) so your work is greatly appreciated and needed for those of us who aren't in the know. Thanks so much I will be keeping an eye on this.

That video tutorial will help me out greatly. Just started dabbling in making themes. Starting with making one for my wife and will see if I have any talent. :P
