Well first BBOS got our hands on a leaked Verizon memo stating that the trackball issue on the 9630 was indeed a hardware problem, and not software related like some reps were claiming. Now thanks to member we now have another memo, this time from Telus. So for our Telus customers that may be experiencing this issue, looks like you have some light at the end of the tunnel.

mine seems fine though. i'm really hoping we can swap out our trackball for a trackpad once the 9700 oem parts start being sold.
