I've never heard of anybody with an unlocked phone getting anything other than EDGE. The Storm even has a 3G symbol, but if you unlock it, you still will never see it. I asked VZW and they had no answer as to why this couldn't be done. Even all the posters here at BBOS are looking for the best radio to hold a steady EDGE signal, not the HSPA 3G symbol? I've always wondered this, but have never seen anybody ask.

I wonder if its just the lack of HSPA right now, and if it had the Bold's HSDPA type radio if it would be different
