Thread: AT&T to upgrade 3G technology nationwide

After T-Mobile's announcement having boosted its network speed yesterday, it doesn't really come out of the blue, that AT&T made an immediate response. A series of software upgrades should have been implemented as a first step to provide for a better data experience. Their headline reads:"AT&T upgrades 3G technology at cell sites across nation." In a second step AT&T is improving its backhaul capabilities over the course of the next two years, to have the majority of its network running 7.2 Mbps HSPA by the end of 2010 and to move to LTE technology starting in 2011.

Let's just hope that while increasing the 3G speed, they also expand the coverage area. I have ATT, and not living in a big city, it's rare to find 3G coverage without having to go into the cities. All we can do is hope!

Has anyone noticed that service has gotten spotty ever since they claimed they were upgrading? I'm in the DC area.

I live in central Mississippi, never had 3G here, now I can go 7 miles outside of our city and get it, great job ATT, lot of farmers were really needing 3g on their tractors!
