Perhaps AT&T should sue themselves for having shitty service!

Hence the reason why VZW could post their new controversial 3G coverage map... AT&T really doesn't have the coverage after losing their roaming agreements.

AT&T is pissed, because their coverage is SHRINKING. lol.
Alltel was a CDMA carrier not GSM

...I don't know, it seems like CDMA is the way of the future.
I don't know. I don't keep up on a lot of this stuff. All I know is that using 3G on my AT&T phones was much faster than what I get now on Verizon. Not that Verizon is terrible, AT&T was just faster, that's all. I didn't mean to cause any heated debate on the subject, I was just saying that I wondered when debate on these commercials would come up. As I stated before, yes it's true that AT&T does NOT have 3G in the white areas, but they do have EDGE, which in my experience, is equivalent to Verizon 3G speeds.

Okay, Alltel actually started as a landline company... LOL.

They started their wireless division and eventually branched off. Way back when they started there wasn't GSM or CDMA... they were always a CDMA carrier, but installed GSM functionality on their towers, because it made great business sense. Alltel didn't make their money off their customer base. They made their money off the carriers paying roaming fees (The biggest reason why VZW wanted them). Alltel actually had a great GSM network throughout rural America and this is why AT&T is soooo upset, and another reason why everyone keeps reading about "divested markets."

Alltel built out their towers to support both CDMA and GSM networks... great idea, right?

Either way, the network started analog... then TDMA, then CDMA/GSM (which is actually the same technologies just configured a little bit differently on how the packets are transferred over the air). CDMA is actually a safer, more efficiently ran network, but GSM was a better early solution for data and voice combinations.

Either way, AT&T is losing ground, because VZW cut them out from under by buying the network they relied on.... the same network everyone relied on, ha.

AT&T Issues Press Release in Response to Verizon Ads

Verizon's ads directly targeting AT&T sure is getting under AT&T's skin. I'm sure by now you know the details of AT&T suing Verizon over their ad campaign. The counter attack continues with a press release they issued yesterday.

    "To Our Customers:

As the U.S. market leader in wireless data service, we typically don't respond to competitors' advertising. However, some recent ads from Verizon are so blatantly false and misleading, that we want to set the record straight about AT&T's wireless data coverage."

This is definitely a good thing for them to issue a press release regarding Verizon's ad campaign. However does anyone else find the language they used saying the ads are "blatantly false and misleading" to be a little too much? The release continues on with numerous facts bolstering AT&T's position as a leading wireless carrier.

I can't help but wonder why they keep beating a dead horse? Let it go, the more they talk about it the worse off AT&T will be.

Wait 'till VZW launches the "LTE iPhone" it'll rock faces off. I don't know if it will happen but you never know. I recently started calling ATT "The iPhone Company"...because they really don't have anything else going for them. Well, maybe the Bold.
