Thread: T-Mobile Service in the Northeast

Hey guys... considering switching from AT&T to T-Mobile to save a few bucks and take advantage of UMA. I drive across New England, NY, PA and NJ for work though and wondering if you guys in the area can tell me how you like the service you get? Don't want to make a switch from AT&T since they gave me a 15% discount for my business and then have to come back in 30 days if T-Mobile is not that great.

I would definitely take a look at their coverage map for the areas you will be in. TMO doesn't always have the best coverage, especially in less populated areas. If you are along a highway you will most likely be okay.

I lived in NYC for about 6 years and drove across those areas quite a bit. IMO T-Mobile reception was not that hot. I would get quite a few dropped calls and in certain areas no reception at all. While not the cheapest choice, VZW has IMO the best coverage in that region.

Thanks for the honest answers! I bought a prepaid sim card and am keeping an extra phone with me and noticed a few areas today where I had no service along I91 in CT. The other highways I was on were OK. I dropped a lot of calls on the same route today with AT&T even though I had a full signal!
