Hey fellow T-Mobilers. I've just heard that T-Mobile will sanction the .586 OS as their official OS release for the 9700.

Hopefully this is because they are looking at .656 which IMHO is a much better OS. UMA connectivity is a big issue for T-Mobile customers. .545 was a UMA monster. Really grabbed and held UMA connections very well. None of the OS releases after .545 were as good. Now along comes .656 which comes very close to .545 for UMA reliability.
As an example, I was walking across the street from McDonalds the other day with my new .656 OS on the job and I was amazed that it had grabbed the McDonalds UMA connection and was holding it strong even though I was completely across the street. .586 and .593 would have never been as good in UMA connectivity.
I'm becoming a huge .656 fan. I've now used this OS beta for several days and it just keeps getting better and better. Hopefully the reason T-Mobile is holding up on releasing the .586 OS is because they have looked at .656 and determined that it is a better OS.
Anyway, if you were looking for the new TMobile 9700 OS release, it apparently has been delayed.
most probably .593 for tmobile USA or a .6xx
Don't forget that .593 has a Visual Voicemail coding problem and will not allow users to use Visual Voicemail and the speakerphone together. T-Mobile's tech people would have caught that in any testing of the .593 OS and that would veto .593 as an official release candidate for TMo. .593 is also not as reliable for UMA connectivity.Quote:

I do not own a Bold, however I have heard a lot about this visual voicemail issue. But to think that something that small cant slip threw the cracks would not be plausible IMO. I remember when Verizon released 5.0.0.328 for the 9530 they apparently over looked the fact that VZ access manager would not recognize the device for tethering purposes. Who knows what they are testing or what OS they will be releasing only time will tell. Again thanks for keeping us updated on the Official OS release. Apparently, T-Mobile USA in testing the .586 OS did not conclude that this OS is the best fit for consumer use. I agree.
Actually, T-Mobile USA would be well served to take a close look at the new leaked .656 OS which I downloaded a few days ago and have been using since. I am very pleased with .656 and think it would be a far superior OS for T-Mobile to release than the .586 OS.
