Thread: Sprint TV Now Available via wifi... for Blackberry too?

I use to use Sprint TV all the time on my Blackberry 8330. I had not really used it much with my BB 9850, but I just received a text message yesterday from Sprint stating that it was now possible to view Sprint TV over wifi. Previously it was only available over the Sprint network. I had stopped using it because on 3G it as not a good signal and I had forgotten about it truthfully when I went to the 9850.

I sent a tweet to Sprint Care yesterday (https://twitter.com/#!/havertyj/stat...60825991987200) to see if it should be working over wifi for the Blackberry 9850.

When I try it currently on my phone with wifi turned on, I get the following notice:

Due to content restrictions, Sprint TV & Movies content can only be viewed over celluar network.

Although Wi-Fi may be enabled on your device, Sprint TV & Movies will only be using your cellualar connection

Does anyone else have any information on whether the text Sprint sent yesterday regarding Sprint TV now being allowed on wifi network being available on Blackberry devices? Maybe it is a update that needs to be released for the Sprint TV app to make it so that works, but currently, I am not having any luck.

Copy of text received from Sprint yesterday:

SprintFreeMsg: Sprint TV is now available over Wi-Fi providing greater convenience and choice. So you can now watch Sprint TV where ever and whenever you want!

I know my wife and friends got the message too. My wife happens to have a iPhone. I tried it on her phone last night and I had to disable wifi to activate it for the first time. It never did go through.

Have you tried it with only Wifi enabled?

No, I have not tried that. I will give it a try to see if I can get that to work. I think I have tried wifi only enabled before and turning off Sprint access attempting something else which I did not get to work. I know I can get wifi to work if I do not have a Sprint signal, but the few times I have tried turning off Sprint signal and enabling wifi, it did not work for me. I will try it again to see what happens.

I tried turning off Sprint 3G. Started up Sprint TV and it gave the same notice that it could not go through wifi. It then automatically activated the Sprint 3G connection. Odd! Maybe it is waiting on a update from Sprint to allow for Sprint TV to go through wifi.
