    Palm Pre like or dislike?

Just curious to how people feel about the pre and if we have any bb users that converted or even saw the phone.
Well il admit I am one of them that saw the phone and here are my initial views on it. I had the device for roughly a day and I must say I like it better than my storm. Il leave my favorite feature for last. lol. Firstly it has less lag especially with the 1.02 update. Dont get me wrong its not lag free, but its lag is minimal. The phone itself I dont honestly like how it feels when using the keyboard. The keyboard is bad at first but honestly with some frequent use I got comfortable with it. It is not like typing on a curve now but after a couple hours I got used to it. Me i personally can used to a any phone quickly. Only took me an hour to get used to the storm surepress so I am not sure how a new rookie user would handle the keyboard. The pre bottom has an edge on it that for the life of me I cant explain why they did this. The phones itself gets dirt and fingerprints everywhere and I do mean everywhere lol. The screen is beautiful simply beautiful. The size of the phone is sooooo sooooo small. It acutally shocked me. If you wear baggy jeans you could easily lose it in yourn pocket. The synergy feature in which it takes all your information from your synced accounts and links them together I thought was great at first. Here is the major flaw I saw in it. Maybe somebody knows how to change this but when I linked my facebook my contacts got filled with all friends with specified info from facebook. I do mean everyone. People I dont really even know were in my contacts. I couldnt find a way to select who i want to sync and who i didnt want to. This could become kinda troublesome because the last thing you want is your facebook friends mixed with your business clients lol. The browser is light years ahead of the storms. Renders faster is more responsive everything. Also html emails is better on the pre. The one thing about my storm I dont like is that when you get an email filled with html you have to get images. I dont like that. I thought there would have been and automatic download option for html graphics. Well its integrated within the pre. Next true threaded messaging and I do mean true threaded messaging just like on the iphone but better in the aspect that if you are talking to someone on aim and he signs off but you want to continue convo you can just choose to send a text message and it shows in the same threaded messaging session. Also Wifi very great plus. The battery life honestly was good for me. It wasnt spectacular but I survived 10 hours with heavy use. Universal search is beautiful and works flawlessly save you ever having to honestly opening the contacts application or ever going to google website. Only thing I wished it was integrated into every application but it is only integreated in a few.The acceleromator is fast very fast actually fastest i have ever seen. But here is the dumb part it only works in web browswer and cards and maybe some other application. This is silly just integrate it into all programs. There is also no on screen keyboard some people may not like this but i aint mind it at all. Ok now to my favorite part of the phone the part in which it has me tempted to get the phone multitasking. It is beautiful. Multitasking is the one feature I been asking from my smartphone since I first got mine. And I mean true multitasking. You can open an email be have way in typing email and go oh where was the meeting place again run gps find a location, then go oh wait I wonder if John would like to join us and check and see if join is logged on aim or google then go back to your email at the same exact just like you left it not a draft the actually program. I had 15 programs opened at once and yes I did experience some lag but it was beautiful I almost shed a tear lol. Butthats basically my little review on the pre. I could go further but its already an essay dont want to make it my doctorate now lol. Will I be going to a palm pre honestly dont see it. I use bb messenger way too much and like i said I work for Verizon and I get my company phone free. Now for my personal line I am not going to lie I am real tempted. But only time will see. Whats other opinion on the Pre? Me mine is a LIKE.

A friend of mine got the Palm Pre yesterday and I was very impressed for a 1.0 version certainly felt better than Storm did out of the gates. The card thing is very cool and the keyboard while small and cramped wasn't that bad to type on. Web Broswing was very good especially over WiFi. Web pages looked very good, not up to iPhone standards but blew the Storm away. Will the Palm cause people to switch away from the Storm is hard to say. It is the Sprint network and here in LA the Sprint signal is great. But in NYC i always have issue with it. Anyway, it's a pretty darn good for a 1st generation version and see this thing being a player as updates become available.

When I was selling building materials we were all on Sprint and man it was horrid! You would have coverage then walk two steps ( not kidding) and lose coverage. Never will I be a sprint customer

I have two blackberry phones and now one Palm Pre as my third line. I was initially impressed with the phone as the OS is actually pretty cool. Then, once you realize that it's a phone and not a laptop, it starts to become a bit cumbersome... Especially when trying to make a call. I'm sure most of this is just trying to get used to the touchscreen and running the phone as an app. I like to make calls quickly when I need to, and you have to go through a few steps to get there with the Pre.

I am more than anything dissapointed with the signal reception. I frequently miss calls. I have called it from my BB while holding the Pre in my other hand and it would go directly to voicemail. It's done that at least three times now.

I would say this phone is better suited for someone who is primarily wanting a good phone browser and is app driven, not a serious business user.

Long story short, looking forward to taking it back in exchange for the Tour.

I do like the Palm Pre. It has many new features that should be considered standard in all newer phones today. However, it will not make me switch from Blackberry or iPhone since it's first generation, a little buggy, and the available applications available are slim.

I have heard that. I picked it up at sprint and didn't really like anything about it. I was gonna get one for my wife but she has nails and the screen wouldn't respond very well to the touch of plastic (fake nails)

That guy from Big Trouble in Little China would be screwed. No palm pre for him:haha:

i had the Pre for just under 30 days.

My overall impression of it is it's a great device! Palm has stumbled on to something big with WebOS, the simplicity of it to the real potential it has, bundled with the raw power of the device itself, i think with some tweaks it could turn into something great.

Honestly i would still have my Pre if it weren't for a few things.

    1) Battery life is terrible, i couldn't make it through a day at work without having to plug it in, esp. if i had to go somewhere after work i would have to make sure to charge it up so it would go the extra couple hours before i got home.

    2) i went through two Pre's in that 30 days, the first one was just odd, when it was charging or whenever it got warm , say a lot of heavy web browsing or downloading video's the bottom of the LCD turned yellow when it warmed up.

    3) the second Pre had a terrible wobble in the hinge, some have dubbed it "The oreo effect" you could twist the phone on the hinge. it'd be one thing if it started doing this after a year of abuse but within the first 3 days? so i decided not to go with a third Pre and got a Tour.

i love the features of the Pre and i think WebOS is amazing but i also need a device thats going to put up with my abuse for at least a year (i go on average a year between phones) i'm not hard enough on the phone to need a military spec device but i need it to do what it was intended to do.

so maybe by this time next year palm will have some more durrable phones out and i may try it again. but who knows, i'm loving the blackberry so i may decide to stick with the blackberry OS come a year from now
