    BlackBerry 9900? 9930? Sprint?

Interesting information is coming out of the BGR camp regarding the now infamous BlackBerry Slider. According to their source, the new device has failed diagnostic testing 4 out of 5 times. Storm 9530 anyone? Additionally, they are claiming the device is a Sprint branded test unit. Want more? How about a new series? The new slider "may" be a 9900 or 9930 series device, and there were no mentions of the word "Bold".

Thoughts? How does this rumor stack up to your expectations? At times BGR is right on track. Time will tell how this holds true. Let us know what you think!

I certainly wouldn't believe any of this without some sort of concrete proof. Knowing how rumors go in the early beginnings anyway.

With the passing of the GSM patent information and the news we've seen as of late regarding the device...I hope so. I'm taking it with a grain of salt.

Too many rumours running round now.
Lots of different people saying they have photos etc. Proof is needed before the masses decide something is real and are then disapointed.

I completely agree. But I prefer to focus on the "What if it's true?" aspect.

Wow... if this is true, we can add this to the pile of dumb decisions RIM has made. We saw what putting the Pre exclusive on Sprint did for Palm...absolutely nothing.

Still no actual proof of the slider? Well I guess that's what makes it all a rumour, if there was proof it would be called news! but it is interesting, made up or not, that little tidbits keep getting added to this one. First the bad pics, then quality pics, then side and back shots, now a model number and branding. I guess time will tell. I still think this would be a cool addition to the BB family. I would give more choice and still be a Blackberry!

There is subjective proof that it is a prototype. There is no actual proof as to where it'll land yet. I 100% am hoping Verizon, AT&T, or, MetroPCS (LOL) lands it.. Just because they are a cheap company.. But the phone would be like 900 bucks..

Anyhow - wherever it lands, you can almost 100% bet that I will be going straight there.. :\

This would be an interesting device if it does come to fruition.

Exclusive deals between equipment manufacturers and service providers defeat the free market principles and keep prices up - both for the consumer and manufacturer.

RIM could easily make all of their handsets compatable on CDMA and GSM networks essentially "world phones" and made available to all carriers.

Look at the iPhone in the US, only available on ATT and to a lesser extent the Storm on Verizon - think of how many more iPhones would sell if they were available to all carriers. Sprint had a short term exclusive the Palm Pre, now Verizon is offering the Palm Pre Plus...

I would be shocked if this device goes to just Sprint, seeing as that any CDMA device goes to VZW first and then Sprint, or is released by both at the same time at very worst. I can't really seeing the Big Red letting Sprint take an exclusive on this if it is indeed a CDMA device.

Palm Pre ring any bells? Sprint first.
