Thread: cell phones not intended to be used in houses, buildings or in cars!?!

i just recently had a rather interesting conversation with a sprint tech about why my wife's and mine tours signal will vary from full signal to roam to anywhere in between just sitting in one location. doesn't matter if we are in our house or if i am at work or just driving about by our home. a week previous a different tech said there was definitely an issue with the towers in our area and they would send out a crew to address the issue, so i wait a week patiently to no resolve. so i call back to sprint support and amongst the 7 transfer i had a tech tell me that cell phones are not intended to be used inside homes, buildings or cars!!!!!!! and right after that said we should consider getting an airave for our home!! so i asked what was that going to do if cell phones were not supposed to be used in our home. btw, they still haven't closed out the trouble ticket on the tower issues in our area so it was just a lame way of trying to downplay the lack of them not addressing the fact that they haven't fixed their towers and playing a consumer as dumb! way to go sprint!!!!

Never believe anything someone on the phone from a carrier tells you. 9 out of 10 times they are just reading a script and trying to sell you something.

Your main problem = sprint. They are terrible. An associate I knew had sprint and it, was, terrible.. Customer service, signal, everything..

I've always avoided sprint at all costs ( I chose MetroPCS over sprint.. lol)..

in the area that we live in sprint by far and away has the best coverage and service. but with that said and our recent issues maybe not. i just got off the phone again with them and finally got someone in advance support and he sees the issue with our towers and issued an escalated ticket so we will see where this goes from here. i just thought it was hilarious that someone would even say something like that in the first place since they market the way they do! btw sprint ,airave does not fix all reception issues, and nether does just giving you a replacement phone!!

Telus told me that under contract my phone doesnt need to work indoors. And they'd send a technician out to turn the satellite towards my house. I asked " wouldnt that just take away service from someone else?" There response was that they'd turn it away from the farmers. I received a text within 12hrs saying the problem was resolved.

Man there good, I called in the evening and a saint of a technician worked all night turning that satellite towards me. I would like to shake that mans hand.

Lol. So can I borrow that saint!?! That is freakin funny! Maybe someday big corp might realize that the average joe isn't so dumb!

i'm on sprint also and i had issues with my Tour signal inside my home as well...i had the 8330 curve before hand and had no signal problems at all so i called sprint and was like "how doest a world phone work in my home in the US (i live outside DC close to the Northern VA Sprint HQ) where i bought it when my 8330 did? i couldn't remember what excuse they gave so i switched to the HTC Pro 2 til the 8530 came out and got that and now everything is fine just like my 8330 was...so i don't think it was a network issue but the Tour alone for me at least...

It seems funny that the more people they can convert to a service, the less service those people receive...
This is the same thing that has happened with Satellite TV, radio, "air" TV and pretty much all other aspects of communications in general. How 'bout this, service providers; Start providing service instead of excuses and stop increasing the cost to your customers until the service is actually better.
We should all just go back to a "can and string" communications system and tell these "providers" to pound sand...

What's even better is that I was trying to make a phone call and I suddenly got a canned system message from verizon! What makes that even better we switched to sprint from verizon because we couldn't get a signal at our house! Talk about irony.

I have to say... out of the 4 provides in the US I LOVE Sprint the most.

Not for their service
Not for their billing system
Not for their customer service
Not for their devices

But... For the way they PISS customers off!
Working for AT&T I activate more pissed off Sprint customers then T-Mobile and Verizon put together. How Sprint is still in business, I do not know.

One day I was activating a women an her daughter with a Family Plan for AT&T and they were complaining the whole time about their less the par Sprint service. After I told them there total monthly average for their bill, he daughter said to her mom "$130 is way more then $10, are you sure?". I replied "What is $10?" and Mom said "My Sprint Bill"... I was sooo lost! She then explained that she is a Customer Service Phone Rep for Sprint and her employee plan was like $4.99 per phone per month. To see a SPRINT employee willing raise her bill $120 just to have better service made me smile...

It really tells you something...

5 years or so ago, I had Nextel, then they merged with Sprint. Within a few weeks, I no longer had service in the exact same locations I had service before the merge. After listening to the excuses and promises, I switched to Verizon. Cost me $230 to get out of the contract. At the time it really pi$$ed me off, looking back now it was worth it. Sprint can kiss my a$$.

My signal strength has always been poor in my house.

Occasionally lucky to get two bars but typically I am at one. Never thought about talking to my carrier to see if there is anything they could possibly do to improve reception.

I always thought it was 'take what you given, shut-up and like it'.

I wouldn't either except for the fact I can be sitting in one spot and my antenna would go from 2 bars to 5 bars to roam in a matter of seconds. And after making a couple of calls and got a canned system message saying my call could not be completed by verizon I figured I should call.

Ha ha ha! FINALLY got sprint to physically check their towers in my area, and they found a problem! Imagine that. It suddenly drops power for a while and powers up again. So they acknowledge it and working on it. So hopefully resolution in the very near future.

Perfect, but in the meantime, have they offered a refund for the time that you have lost service? I'm sure you will be tossing snowballs in hell before that ever happens!

I kept getting US roam charges when i haven't been to the States. I complained and Bell refunded me that one time. In the future, if I'm close to an American signal tower, I'm supposed to turn my phone off as they will not refund me the roaming charges again. Whats with that shit? Put the onus on the customer to ensure they haven't latched onto a signal that puts you into roaming?

Doesn't matter if its Verizon, Telus, Sprint or Bell....they get you with promises then screw you when your locked in.

Sorry to hear about your experience. What I figured out was that these are two way contracts so as much as we are tied into them so. are they. If they are not providing you with the services that you are paying for they are breaching they contract. And to me it sounds like that maybe the case. If you are inside your coverage area and you are locking onto another company towers then there is something wrong with theirs. I wouldn't take no for an answer nor should anyone. As far as sprint goes they are trying to get me to settle for one month of credit and I said we would discuss compensation when everything is totally resolved. Besides the lost service, we have over 15 trips @ 32 miles per round trip that should never have been made if they would have taken the time to check into it deeper.

Wow. I know sometimes I've had issues with Sprint but no one told me my phone should not be used indoors anywhere. I can't believe you would be told that. What if it was raining out, or what if there was a blizzard? Phones are not always intended for outdoor use, in my opinion! I can't stand it when customer service gives people the run-around.

IMO AT&T has the best service.... I dropped them once because I wanted Sprint/Nextel for 2 way radio. It was a stupid decision on my part I know...lol Sprint would drop calls ALL the time so it was useless to me. I wanted out of contract early so I called and said I wasn't getting the service's I was paying for and that was that.....They let me drop them and back to AT&T I went and still there today.As for AT&T I have never gotten a run-around with customer service if there was an issue they told me.

I've had CellOne, Orange Israel, and Verizon. Currently with Verizon and they have been the best so far.
