Retro Executor Keychain Gets Made Into BlackBerry App

If you grew up as a kid in the 80's, like myself, then you most likely owned one of the original Executor Keychains. These fun for kids, yet annoying as hell to adults, keychains were a staple to the youth of those times. If you happened to miss out on the Executor Keychain generation, or just want to re-live those childhood memories of blowing up your kid sibling with the infamous dropping bomb sounds, it is now possible thanks to developer Harry Scanlan AKA @footose.

Harry has taken the sounds and UI of the physical Executor Keychain, made it into a app for your BlackBerry device, and re-named it beExecutor. This app has the 8-bit, 8-sound effects similar to the original sound effect "Executor" Keychain: Bomb, Explosions, Siren, Machine Gun, Phasers, Lasers, Falls and a Gatling Gun. With beExecutor you'll be center of attention no matter what time or place, just crank up the volume and let er' rip! This little noisemaker app is a must have for anyone looking to have a bit of fun.

And if you are also looking for the original thing, I've spotted a few on eBay for sell as well. You can pick up beExecutor now in App World for only $0.99, only a fraction of what it would cost for the real thing!

Have you been wondering where you can buy a BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha device? Or, why the device isn't a finished product? You'd be surprised, some people don't know the answer. Because of questions like these I have made a video explaining the purpose of the Dev Alpha device and for what, and to whom, the device was meant for. In the video I give an example of how the BBOS PlayBook app will need to be updated to suit the various differences between the PlayBook OS and BlackBerry 10 OS, and why it's crucial that RIM released the Alpha devices to developers. I hope this video helps to clear up any confusion out there. For a list of the top BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha FAQs, check out our recent article in the blog. One Man's Opinion On The New Palm Pixi - Ahem! - I Mean BlackBerry 10 TK2 Victory Concept

So, before the flaming starts, there is no denying that the new concept design BlackBerry, dubbed BlackBerry 10 TK2 Victory, resembles the form factor of the newer Palm device series. Let's just clear the air on that. When I first laid eyes on the mock-up images, all I could think of was holding a stylus pen in hand while using the device (not necessarily a bad thing).

I do like the idea of the bigger screen to satisfy the full-screen users, while jamming in some physical keys to satisfy the physical keyboard junkies. But is it really a winning design? I say probably not. Why? Because it looks like a man with a undersized body and a overgrown head trying to do a back-flip! Not going to be easy (nothing against big heads, I have one myself). And there are some negative side affects to having such a large screen with a regular sized keypad. It renders the one-handed usage primarily to the bottom of the touchscreen only. No more single hand high stretches to reach that touch sensitive content up top, as you'll have to let go of the keyboard and double hand it without that trackpad. So, unless you have the fingers of a 7 foot tall basketball player, I'd opt for a smaller design.

[BB10 TK2 concept device next to Palm Pixi Plus]

However, easier said than done, right? I'm not saying I could come up with something better (see my mediocre unfinished mockup), but I do feel that overall form fumbles function in this BB 10 TK2 concept. Which is why it is a concept, right? I do like the inset sleep/power button though. And kudos to the graphic artist, Guy Bridges, who went through the pains of putting this concept together for us BlackBerry 10 thirsty addicts till the next juicy piece of material comes around for us to sink our opinions into. Stay tuned for my next rant...

Agree or disagree? Let me know what you think about the BlackBerry 10 TK2 concept device in the comments!

Fat Fingers For PlayBook - Your eBay Deal Catcher

Did you know that misspelling a product for sell on eBay can affect how well the item can be found by potential buyers? This ultimately can result in the auction item not getting the recognition it needs to start a bidding war. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to find those misspelled hard to find items on eBay so that you could be the one to get in on that great auction price? Well, with a new PlayBook app by C2Development, you can do just that! Fat Fingers for PlayBook is a powerhouse eBay search engine that finds those misspelled apps allowing you to get in on those deals that no else can find.

Having already tried the app out, within my first couple of searches I found a misspelled item with no bidders. As you can see from the screenshot below that when I typed in "BlackBerry PlayBook" the search engine cleverly found a misspelled entry, "BalckBerry PlayBook." BTW, those interested in a deal on a new PlayBook may want to take notes.

Overall Fat Fingers runs very smooth, fast, and the interface is easy to navigate on. There is even a feature that takes you directly to eBay if you would like to explore more about your searched items. And for only $1.99, an app that can save you literally hundreds of dollars, I'd say that it's a useful bargain.

Be sure to follow the guys of C2Development on Twitter for the latest, and be sure to let us know in the comments if Fat Fingers scores you a eBay deal!

    Waze v2.0.2.3 For BlackBerry Smartphones

Waze is a new kind of social networking app that allows drivers to build roads that haven't yet been "paved" on the app's map system, as well as use live (and most importantly: current) maps as well. The app enables users the opportunity to check real time traffic updates that other Waze users have posted while driving and even use GPS navigation! One thing I really like is that you get points for driving, paving roads, and even hitting little icons on the map for bonus points. The app supports all BlackBerry devices over 8900.
