Dropbox came to me as I perused the BlackBerryOS.com site recently. It was being lauded as a mobile app for BlackBerrys that would enable you to share your files directly from the mobile app itself, AND a free 2GB space if i applied now?? I had to at LEAST take a test drive!

The average your child spends on text messaging is more than 120 texts each school day, and more than three hours a day is spent on social networking websites each school day. Some of us may be surprised by that. Others may say that it doesn't matter, as long as they aren't getting in trouble. Believe it or not, children are more inclined to get into trouble with such unlimited access to todays technology.

According to a study at Case Western Reserve University, students who spend the most time texting and/or on social networking sites are at risk in getting involved bad behavior like smoking, risky sex, depression, eating disorders, drug and alcohol abuse. Parents should also be concerned that the more children are immersed in this unsocial "social" networking world, parent-child communication is failing. If you are concerned about these issues, and you child has or will have a BlackBerry, we bring you...TextNanny...

Enjoy Skype calls and chat on your BlackBerry! Pure phone quality, no extra voice delays. Call to any landline or mobile number at low Skype rates. With IM+ Talk for BlackBerry you can talk with other Skype users all over the world.

IM+ Talk allows you to make free VoIP calls in Wi-Fi areas and over 3G/EDGE. When connecting via wireless carrier's network you can still make calls using Skype credits. With app purchase, you get a lifetime license so all further updates are included. You can also transfer the license to another device (except for iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad and webOS). The cost for this app is $29.95 and requires OS 4.3 or later.

I had a chance to test out the CaseMate Hybrid Tough case for my 9650 and I figured I would write up my experiences. What separates these cases from most BlackBerry cases is that it comes in two pieces: a soft silicon shell which is wrapped by a harder ABS plastic skin. Overall I thought the case was great in some respects but it really fell short of my overall expectations.

Cocky Culture, well known for their themes, have developed their first game for the BlackBerry 9800 and 95xx devices. The game requires you to help Dante escape through 9 levels of hell. The user guides Dante away from lava while progressing through various platforms. There are several obstacles to avoid as well as score enhancers including lives and power ups.

This is a great game, especially for Cocky Culture’s first attempt at game development. .

The first Delta application for BlackBerry users has recently been released by the airlines. The app is available for free and allows you to handle various travel tasks on the go such as:

    • Check in for upcoming flights
    • Download mobile boarding passes (where available)
    • Receive push alerts for flight and gate changes
    • Check flight status and get terminal and gate info
    • Search upcoming flight schedules
    • Get your SkyMiles balance and status
    • Check airport info and weather
    • Save a photo and note your parking spot - great for large airports

The Delta BlackBerry app should work on most devices running OS 5.0 or higher. If you get it, let us know what you think of this app.

Last week I was browsing our BBOS store for a new Bluetooth Headset when I came across the Motorola Endeavor HX1. It's really amazing that this headset has been out on the market for over a year now, and still sits at the top of it's class. I've never been a big time bluetooth headset user, but figured I was in need of one after always finding myself having to pull over the car to answer a call. I needed a comfortable headset so that I could drive while talking, and not have to worry about endangering other drivers on the road...

9 months ago, you may remember how you sat impatiently on your living room couch waiting for your wife to come out of her room with the most unexpected and surprising words..."I'm PREGNANT!" 9 months later you finally submit and you start preparing yourself in expectation of the new addition. But you never expected to have to rush your wife to the hospital so many times and find out it's only false labor pains. Thus the parent app of the week...Contraction Calc...

PatternLock has quietly been updated to version 2.0.0.5 For BlackBerry touch devices only. If you do not know what PatternLock is, it's "the ultimate customizable lock application allowing you to pick custom colors and images for almost every aspect of the lock screen." Believe me, it is FULLY customizable . Here is what you get:

Sergey Demyanov, author of the popular app Fancy Characters, is at it again with a very interesting and potentially powerful homescreen widget app for BlackBerry smartphones. As you can see from the above picture, FancyWidgets offers a variety of configurable 'real time' mini-applications or modules to add to your homescreen. Keep in mind, though, that Fancy Widgets is still in beta and there are many little bugs to be worked out before the final release. Here is what I found...

Thanks to BGR they have given us an extensive review of the Playbook. At over nine minutes, you will get many questions answered. Julian Dolce, Platform Lead of the QNX team, runs through the demo.

While watching the video, I found that it has a very smooth transition between apps. The jump from one category to another and the navigation into each sub-category is nicely organized. The simplicity of running an application, and then an easy flick to close it is also impressive. The camera looks like a dream come true with 1080p quality, and just a touch away, for all those hams out there, from becoming a front facing camera. One thing missing from the video was a browser test, as they were in an area without internet connection. I guess you will have to wait to get your mitts on it to see that for yourself. Julian said that universal search is what they are actively working on. The keyboard is multi-touch, and it works in both portrait and landscape. You will be able to pair the Playbook with your current device and access the data.

The SDK is now publicly available, and Appworld is accepting applications. For those that develop an application for the Playbook and are accepted into BlackBerry Appworld, you will receive a free Playbook when they become available. Download the SDK and get those apps up now. Good Luck :sun:
Enjoy the video and leave your comment after the jump...or see what others have to say:
