Here is a nifty little app that just hit the App World market. It's called SRS File Multi Send Plugin for BBM, which allows the user to send files to multiple BBM contacts at the same time, freeing you from having to send a file to each contact one by one. Why this hasn't been fully implemented into BBM yet, I don't get. But you can bet that this little app has the BBM RIM devs heads turning.

With this app there are a couple options to send a file for multiple BBM contacts:

1- Select the file you want to send,
2- Choose BBM contacts and send, simple as this.

    OR

    1-Take a photo,
    2-Choose BBM contacts and send.

You can use the trial version as long as you want, but you can only select 2 contacts for each file at a time. The paid full version offers no trial restrictions in addition to being ad free. The paid version also come with 1 free year of support and upgrades. However, by then I imagine this feature will be built into the BBM platform.

Here is a snippet of promising news - The BlackBerry 10 OS has tested better than the current PlayBook OS 2 in a HTML5 compatibility browser test with a score of 361. The results on HTML5test.com do not reveal any detail of the BB 10 device in question, but we can count on one powerhouse of a browser when it launches later this year. Having used the new PB OS 2.0 browser regularly, I can say that I'm ecstatic to surf with OS 10!

(BB Blade Is A Mockup. It Is Not A Rumored Device)

BlackBerry 10, as we all know, is just around the corner and that is the reason why a lot of rumors and speculations have been circling around the BB World. One of the latest mockups to hit the internet is the BlackBerry Blade that looks like it could be the next BlackBerry 10 device.

Rumors say that the BlackBerry 10 OS and will provide many new features that will beat the iPhone. This awesome appearance and design concept of this mockup was created by a known design firm in Toronto named Pixelcarve. It has a very slick design with a slightly curved body and a slide that is said to be very unique and interesting to look at. The QWERTY keypad is there, the trackpad and of course the BlackBerry menu buttons.

Below are some of the rumoured specifications the Blackberry Blade holds:

    • Quad Core : 1.5 GHz processor
    • 4.5 inch AMOLED display with 720x1280 pixels
    • 12MP back camera and a 5MP front camera
    • Supports 3G, 4G LTE and the Wi-Fi hotspots feature

There is still no confirmation from RIM that the Blackberry Blade concept is similar to the first BB 10 device, however, as per Pixelcarves, they are suggesting to have this design as the first device for BlackBerry 10. Lots of ideas and concepts are available on the internet but, they are just speculations from BlackBerry users/enthusiasts. BlackBerry 10 is still in progress and being discussed by RIM's Management. What concerns us now is when are they going to release it.

Do you have any insights about what will be the look of the upcoming BlackBerry 10?

A little birdy tipped BBOS off today that BlackBerry had a new website devoted 100% to the Be Bold campaign. After a tour through the site, I notice that it's not quite public-ready, but the possibilities are definitely there. From New Years Eve in Time Square to its television debut, Be Bold has warmed the hearts of millions.

I've always been a strong supporter of providing tools/hardware for development prior to actually launching a product. With all the upcoming hype for BlackBerry 10, one would assume that RIM wants to make this a success.

During BlackBerry 10 Jam in Orlando (May 1st-3rd, 2012), RIM will release the first beta of the BlackBerry 10 Developer Tools! These toolsets will include:

    • BlackBerry® 10 Native SDK
    • BlackBerry® 10 WebWorks™ SDK
    • BlackBerry® 10 SDK for Adobe® Air®
    • BlackBerry® 10 SDK for Android™ apps

Toolsets are great, but what about how BlackBerry 10 will interact with hardware? Well, RIM has also announced that BlackBerry 10 Jam attendees will also be receiving a BlackBerry 10 prototype device!

Not only will developer attendees get access to the BlackBerry 10 Developer Tools, but they’ll also be receiving a limited edition developer prototype device – the BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha™. This is not a BlackBerry 10 smartphone – it is a prototype running a modified version of the PlayBook OS which will help developers design their apps for the BlackBerry 10 smartphone form factor. Just to be 100% clear – it’s not the final hardware or OS for BlackBerry 10 – it’s a device to help developers get started with designing for what’s coming. BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha is only for developers – not end users – and is only available to developer attendees at BlackBerry 10 Jam.
Note: The BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha will not be running a final version of BlackBerry 10, but rather a modified version of the PlayBook OS.

Yes, you read that right. Research in Motion is wrapped up in yet another lawsuit. This time over emoticons, yes, emoticons. Varia Holdings LLC filed a suit claiming RIM is infringing US Patent 7167731 - "Emoticon Input Method and Apparatus". With this suit, Varia Holdings LLC is demanding that sales of all BlackBerry devices ceases immediately and that the company be awarded damages.

RIM has been removed from its top spot in its home market by its rival Apple. This marks the first time that Apple has ousted BlackBerry as the top smartphone in Canada. According to the bloomberg news Canada's love affair with BlackBerry may be over. This is actually a significant concern for the BlackBerry maker RIM as their home based in Waterloo has always provided a loyal customer base.

A data report provided by Bloomberg show and IDC shows that 2.08 million BlackBerry's were shipped last year in Canada compared to 2.85 million units for Apple's iPhone. The numbers compared to 2008 are quite staggering as RIM outsold Apple almost 5 to 1.

    Declining Sales

There has been concerns about RIM's U.S market slipping, but to see it slipping in the mother land is never a good thing. Sales in both U.S. and Canada fell significantly over the past year, and have been struggling to catch up ever since. Even RIM's worldwide sales have started to slip away.

Most analyst predict that RIM will report a fourth-quarter loss when they announce their results next week. With stocks at an all time low RIM has to do something.

    A Steady Bounce Back

Instead of small device spurts throughout the year RIM needs to deliver at least one device that will leave consumers wanting more. The time is ripe for RIM to make a move, as Apple released an new iPad and iPhone that really weren't that much different from previous generations. However it seems as though we wont be seeing that kind of device from RIM until the fall.

All hope still is not lost for BlackBerry as it still has a very strong presence in Latin America, the Middle East and South East Asia. There are still quite a few loyal BlackBerry users, but RIM still has to make sure to cater to their needs plus the needs of new consumers.

The time is ripe for RIM to catch up with its competitors, and BlackBerry 10 may just be that device that consumers simply can't resist.
