A couple of weeks ago during BlackBerry World 2012 attendees were given a look at some of the new BlackBerry 10 features. Among those new features that wowed the crowd was the new gesture-based, predictive text touchscreen keyboard.

It is not very often that we reference anything Apple related, but BBOS member DownForce let us know in the forums that, BlackBerry users aren't the only ones excited for this new innovative new feature from RIM. iPhone users could see a clone of RIM's new gesture based predictive type keyboard as early as next week. The jailbreak tweak application Octopus will allow iPhone users to use the keyboard that most Blackberry users are only dreaming about now.

The Octopus keyboard has features that include, automatically learning new words as you type, custom completion engine, and multi-language support. Sound familiar? If not you will want to take another look at the BlackBerry 10 Sneak Peek Video we posted not too long ago.

This will be interesting to see how RIM responds to this as it is a jailbreak tweak and not mandated by Apple in any way. So the developer behind Octopus keyboard may find themselves in hot water within the next few weeks.

What do you think about this? Sound off in the forum.

So don't wait, get it downloaded today and keep up on what's new from the REAL #1 BlackBerry fan site out there!

Looks like RIM is still interested in the concept of fuel cell technology. The company has just filed for two similar patents one for the frame of a device and the other for the fuel tank itself. Now if your like me then you may be wondering if having some sort of fuel tank on a mobile device is safe.

Not to bore anyone with a history lesson, but the concept of fuel cells have been around since the mid 1800's . Since then it has been used by NASA and other companies for commercial use.

Either way patents are a nice way to see what direction a company is heading in their R&D department. Could this mean longer battery life? Will we one day have to charge our devices in the same way you would charge a butane lighter? Very interesting to say the least.

With all of the excitement behind RIM's new BlackBerry 10 OS platform, many are wondering what will become of BBM. The messaging client has become a central figure among BlackBerry users and has been a huge selling point for RIM. The lack of a native BBM client on the PlayBook have turned some consumers away, and has left others thinking about its relationship to the BB 10 platform.

RIM has made an announcement today that they have signed a deal with a well-known mapping and navigation company, TomTom, to improve the quality of the BlackBerry Traffic application. RIM has partnered themselves with one of the leading companies in providing real-time traffic information. In my opinion, this partnership will definitely bring the development of BlackBerry 10 to the next level. Although RIM said nothing about that, I am still excited about what will happen in the following days. See the press release below for more information and do not forget to leave comments on what you think!

We have heard the last time from RIM CEO Thorstein Heins that they will be adding new names on their executive leadership team for the betterment of the company. Today, they have announced that Kristian Tear (formerly as an Executive Vice President for Sony Mobile Communications) and Frank Boulben (formerly as an Executive Vice President of Strategy, Marketing and Sales for LightSquared) are the new Chief Operating Officer and Chief Marketing Officer respectively. Given the companies where they have come from, it seems that they will be of great help to RIM's success and for the development of the BlackBerry 10. It is too early for us to say, however, let us all hope that RIM made the right choice in welcoming them to the team. To know more information about this, check out the report and let us discuss it in the comments!

RIM has brought another improvement to some of their smartphones which helps the visually impaired BlackBerry fans to better use their devices using the new Screen Reader feature. It is a free app that is only available for BlackBerry Curves 9350, 9360 and 9370 which I know will be a great help to those users with visual impairments.
