A picture is worth a thousand words, but those words are not always true. At least that is what the consensus is ever since a white Bold 9900 has been spotted in the wild. RIM has failed to verify the pictured device will be available, so let's not get our hopes up just yet. It sure does look sexy though! Would you sell your black 9900 for a white one?

Things are starting to get exciting once again in the world of BlackBerry. We are starting to hear more and more about this new BBX platform. We got word a couple days ago that new BlackBerry X (BBX) platform, would be announced at the upcoming DevCon in San Francisco. The BBX platform is rumored to be a QNX based OS for the PlayBook and the upcoming QNX based BlackBerry SuperPhones.

Although we have some information regarding the devices BBX will showcase on, there is still much to be determined in regards to its functionality. A photo taken from a recent QNX blog post shows the name BBX in one of the presentation slides talking about QNX Car 2. This is exciting as it helps confirm progress in RIM's next major move.

With QNX based Blackberries coming soon it only makes sense for RIM to announce something like this at the next DevCon. I am excited about this, a fresh name, a new OS, and new devices on the horizon. I like RIM's decision to step out of their traditional OS and device models, and move towards something fresh.

What do you think? Are you excited about BBX?

Earlier in the year there were rumors circulating that RIM would bring its popular BBM messaging program to the Android Operating System. Although RIM never confirmed this, it was only a matter of time before the chatter around the water cooler eventually would make its way to some sort digital makeover. We saw just that earlier this week when "leaked" photos surfaced showing BBM running on the Android OS. However, it wasn't long before the photos were declared fake.

Zombie Attack by Smarter Apps now in App World - Free for Limited Time!

Smarter Apps, the makers of the Angry Birds knockoff, Angry Farm, has just released their new game called, Zombie Attack, with Halloween right around the corner! It is a game where you launch objects via catapult to destroy buildings and zombies. The game supports all BlackBerry models except the PlayBook. It will have 100 levels for the launch and more will be added down the line.

Smarter Apps has decided to offer the game free for a limited time as they are also trying the new in-app feature of App World for the first time. For $0.99 you have the option of purchasing the nuclear bomb. The nuclear bomb will clear any level but you can only use it once per hour. If I didn't know any better, that sounds a lot like the flying eagle of Angry Birds.

Let us know what you think of Zombie Attack in the BBOS forum!

In an effort to encourage PlayBook application development. RIM has announced that they will give all fully registered attendees a free BlackBerry PlayBook. This is a great move by RIM as it allows many talented developers to get their hands on a PlayBook. The more developers that get their hands on the PlayBook the better. I am hopeful that after this wave of developer conferences we will see a rise in PlayBook specific apps.

Attendees at the conference will receive a 16GB BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet to help kick start the development of their next app!

This BlackBerry PlayBook tablet offer is open to those who have registered, paid in full and checked-in onsite at BlackBerry DevCon Americas 2011 in San Francisco.
Are you planning on attending one of RIM's developer conferences?
