We have heard the last time from RIM CEO Thorstein Heins that they will be adding new names on their executive leadership team for the betterment of the company. Today, they have announced that Kristian Tear (formerly as an Executive Vice President for Sony Mobile Communications) and Frank Boulben (formerly as an Executive Vice President of Strategy, Marketing and Sales for LightSquared) are the new Chief Operating Officer and Chief Marketing Officer respectively. Given the companies where they have come from, it seems that they will be of great help to RIM's success and for the development of the BlackBerry 10. It is too early for us to say, however, let us all hope that RIM made the right choice in welcoming them to the team. To know more information about this, check out the report and let us discuss it in the comments!

RIM has brought another improvement to some of their smartphones which helps the visually impaired BlackBerry fans to better use their devices using the new Screen Reader feature. It is a free app that is only available for BlackBerry Curves 9350, 9360 and 9370 which I know will be a great help to those users with visual impairments. To see the complete information about the Screen Reader, check out the report presented below and do not forget to leave your thoughts in the forum.

Move over LocalBar, BBHTool, and DDPB the next biggest PlayBook utility has just arrived. Enter PlayBook App Manager, a new gem in the PlayBook management utility software department. Designed by George J this web manager will take complete control over your PlayBook apps, and much more. Easy to install, and implement the PlayBook App Manager has taken over the throne as the ultimate PlayBook utility.

I could not have been more excited to see a web-based application that is robust yet so simple. My hats off to the developers behind
PlayBook App Manager. So without further ado, lets jump into some details about PlayBook App Manager.

The PlayBook App Manager can do many things, and although its primary purpose is add and remove programs from your PlayBook it can also do things like terminate processes. Yes, even Android processes. Now we finally have an Android Kill Switch! In addition things like multiple installs, device information, and application information as available as well.

The PlayBook App Manager is a simple Chrome and Monzilla extension that integrates seamlessly with either browser. All you have to do is enter your PlayBook's ip something like a 192.168.x.x if your PlayBook is on your local LAN or 169.0.x.x if its plugged in via USB. In short you can manage your device over wifi or via USB.

Some of the main features include:
    Main Features

    1. Save your password in the browser for auto login (or not if you choose not to). Some tricks are done to save half of usual login time.
    2. List all the apps installed. Query run status, launch, terminate, or uninstall any individual app.
    3. Install apps by a queue. Multiple apps may be added to the queue by choosing files in a dialog or a simple drag and drop. Apps may be removed from the queue and installation may be aborted. Installation status is displayed in two steps: file uploading (to the playbook) with a progress bar and the actual installation with echoed messages.
    4. Auto retry for any incomplete installation or uninstallation.
    5. Log and categorize all the results of installations. Locate each one of them by a simple click.

I do not want to diminish usefulness of the other PlayBook utilities, but this one takes the cake. Make sure you check out the PlayBook App Manager main website at Playbook App Manager . Thanks for the guys over at OSBB for finding this gem. Make sure you keep it right here for some more surprises.

Finally, the BlackBerry OS 7.1 is officially released in the Philippines via Globe Telecom, Inc. Although OS 7.1 has been released to some other countries already and can be used by everyone, we cannot blame the others who haven’t got the guts to use it on their devices for some reasons. This is definitely great news to every Filipino BlackBerry fan who has been waiting for this official release for quite some time now.

Filipinos will be able to experience this awesome operating system and utilize cool added features like BlackBerry Tag that can change the way BlackBerry users share information and content. By simply tapping their NFC-enabled BlackBerry Bold 9900 smartphone against another NFC-enabled BlackBerry smartphone, users can make sharing easier than ever! They can instantly invite a friend to BBM (BlackBerry Messenger), exchange contact information, documents, URLs, photos, apps and other multimedia content, and they can also pair their BlackBerry smartphone with an NFC-enabled Bluetooth device. With BlackBerry 7.1 OS, customers can be productive virtually anywhere. They can now turn their BlackBerry smartphone into a Mobile Hotspot that can be shared by up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices, including laptops and tablets.

I first want to start this article by thanking everyone who watched and supported us while we were sending out coverage of the BlackBerry World 2012 and BlackBerry 10 Jam events from Orlando. We had an amazing experience and got to meet some very great fans, devs, and RIM staff. It was truly a revitalizing experience for any BlackBerry addict. Over the course of the three days, there was everything from simple meet-ups for networking, to sessions on anything BlackBerry related you can imagine. And the Solutions Showcase was particularly interesting as you got to socialize while learning about the new and existing products on the market. Here is a little overview "in a nutshell" of the days during the event. Don't worry, we have more details to come in the next coming days as well.

During the BlackBerry World party at Universal Studios, we posted some of the first shots of the night as we saw a live demo of the upcoming Pacemaker DJ music creating app. During that same night, our guest dev writer, Corran from c2dev.org, recorded a great video of the live event from his own PlayBook! It's the best video I've seen from the event so far from an attendee. We are super exited for the release of this app into the the coming month or so, how about you? Let us know what you think of the app in action!

The 4G BlackBerry PlayBook will come to a reality later on this year. RIM's CEO Thorsten Heins has confirmed that a 4G version will be coming by the end of the year. Early specs on the devices suggest that it will have a 1.5 Ghz dual-core processor, and NFC, other than that it is said to be pretty similar to the current PlayBook. RIM has also confirmed that they are working on a 10-inch PlayBook as well, which leaves one wondering if we may see a 10-inch LTE device by the end of the year.

No matter what the specs are, it still leaves some wondering how well consumers will perceive the new device. It was over a year ago that RIM first launched the PlayBook, and it is no secret how well that went. So will consumers give the PlayBook 4G another go? Will businesses embrace it with open arms? Only time will tell, but having a constant 4G connection on a superior device is pretty awesome!
