A few weeks ago we gave you a report with details from the BlackBerry Innovation Forum 2011 in Washington, DC. Unfortunately we were not able to snag any pictures from the event that showcased some of the new features of the upcoming PlayBook OS 2.0. However the folks over at blackberrycool were able to capture a few shots of the native email contacts and calendar. This confirms what we already reported and promises a huge change in the way we will be able to utilize the PlayBook.

Machinarium Now Available For PlayBook

Machinarium, the award-winning adventure game is now available on BlackBerry App World for the BlackBerry PlayBook. Developed by indie studio Amanita Design, Machinarium is an old, rusty and legendary city populated only by robots of various forms and functions.

The Story: You will have to get rid of wicked robots from the Black Cap Brotherhood and save the head of the city and also your robot-girl friend.
The Puzzles: You will be solving many logical puzzles, adventure quests, brain teasers and mini-games.
The Graphics: Backgrounds and characters are 2D hand-drawn and there is more than one hour of carefully crafted animations.
The Music: Beautiful original soundtrack was composed and recorded by Floex (Samorost2 OST).
Communication: You won't find any lengthy boring dialogs in this game, characters talk by comic bubbles with simple animations and symbols.

GMail App For BlackBerry Being Depreciated As Of Today

While most users will just directly set-up their Gmail email accounts directly on their devices, it seems that Google still had a native Gmail app kickin' around that many users were using.

As of today, Google will end support for the Gmail App for Blackberry.

Beginning November 22, 2011, we will end support for the Gmail App for Blackberry (installed native app). Over this past year, we've focused efforts on building a great Gmail experience in the mobile browser and will continue investing in this area.

Users may continue to use the app, if installed, however it will not be supported by Google, or available for download starting November 22. BlackBerry users can continue to access Gmail through the mobile web app at http://www.gmail.com in their BlackBerry web browser.

You might ask yourselves why they've made this decision? Well, if you've recently visited the Gmail mobile site, you'll notice that their HTML5 page makes this app look outdated.

Leaked: BlackBerry Desktop Manager 7.0.0.32 - No Keycode Needed

Earlier today, BlackBerry Desktop Manager 7.0.0.32 was released in Beta Zone. Many wished that the beta would have been released to a larger audience. Well, some members of OpenSourceBB were able to stripped down the app to no longer need keycode.

Note: Since this is a beta version of BlackBerry Desktop Manager 7, please install at your own risk.

DevCon Asia To Be Relocated Due To Flooding In Bangkok

Looks like due to recent flooding in Bangkok, DevCon Asia will be temporarily suspended until RIM can figure out other alternatives for the event to take place. Here is the announcement from RIM:

BlackBerry Desktop Software Updates To v7.0.0.32 In Beta Zone

Looks like there has been an update for the beta version of Desktop Software in the Beta Zone. It seems as though they are working on organizer/PIM functionality with this release. If you have been able to download this version let us know what findings/fixes you discover.

Please upgrade to this latest version (7.0.0.32) as soon as possible and let us know what you think. Your participation in this Beta program has been instrumental in helping us prepare Desktop Software for market release. Let us know if we are meeting your expectations and how we can improve your experience – we are listening!

RIM Launches the New BlackBerry Curve 9360 Smartphone in Vietnam

RIM has formally announced the availability of the BlackBerry Curve 9360 in Vietnam. The following are the key points from the official RIM press release:

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam - Research In Motion (RIM) (NASDAQ: RIMM; TSX: RIM) today announced that the BlackBerry® Curve™ 9360, which features the new BlackBerry® 7 operating system (OS), is now available in Vietnam. The BlackBerry Curve 9360 is available from RIM’s distribution partner, Brightstar Corp., at a price of VND8,750,000 and comes with an 18-months warranty with support from local after-sales service centers.

Nicholas Horton, Vice President of Indochina at RIM commented, “The new BlackBerry Curve 9360 is a stunning, easy-to-use smartphone that will appeal to Vietnamese customers who want to stay socially connected. We expect the new BlackBerry Curve 9360, with all of its major enhancements, to be well received by feature phone users in the market as well as existing BlackBerry Curve users looking to upgrade.”

RIM Confirms Issues With New BlackBerry Models

RIM has confirmed with CNBC that a limited number of customers have been having issues with their new OS 7 devices; in particular the Bold 9900 and 9930. We have seen this as well in our forums, and in the official BlackBerry support forums. Its clear there are issues, in the statement issued the spokeswoman said that they are working on a software update to fix the issues. Here is the official statement from RIM regarding the issues:

A limited number of customers have reported an issue where their device does not power on. She said the company is actively working on a software update to resolve this issue.

Remember if you are experiencing any issues be sure to report them in our forums, and we will help you out as best we can.

RIM has officially announced today that the BlackBerry Java SDK v7.1 is now in beta for both the BlackBerry Java Plug-in for Eclipse and the BlackBerry Java Development Environment on Windows, with Mac support expected to arrive soon.

BeepUs, the free push-to-talk app for BBM has been updated today to v1.0.1. This is good news as yesterday BeepUs had been pulled from App World by RIM but now is back in action. The following change-log comes with the new update:
