So, when I became a blogger for BlackBerryOS, I needed a quick way to access the site. Since I use Google Chrome, I decided to make a Google Chrome Application for BlackBerryOS. When installed, this app will display a shortcut to BBOS on your New Tab page, enabling you to easily access all the wonders that is BBOS.

Firstly, you need Google Chrome installed on your computer. To install the app, simply download the .zip file I have included as an attachment, and as a Dropbox download link, then unzip it and drag the file to Google Chrome-which should be open-and click on yes when it asks you to continue. That's it! You now have a quick and easy way to access BlackBerryOS.com!

UPDATED: Fixed a bug where the user is not logged in when accessing the page through the app.

Rogers Wireless, one of Canada's leading service providers, is set to launch their LTE service in Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, and Ottawa very soon-sometime this year. What does this mean for you lucky Rogers customers? With this service, Rogers customers will have access to the following features:

Everyone will be able to watch streaming movies and live HDTV on their mobile devices, with crisp picture and virtually no buffering or delays
Friends and families can video chat seamlessly – as natural as talking on the phone, with virtually no lag time
Gamers can play their favourite multiplayer games from almost anywhere
Businesses can implement a truly mobile workforce that is both as efficient and secure as a traditional workplace
Also, customers will have another set of features:

With maximum download speeds of up to 150 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 70 Mbps, how you use your mobile devices will change, and the boundaries of today will be replaced with endless possibilities.
As if that's not enough, Rogers plans to launch this service in an additional 21 markets by the end of 2012. So even if you don't live in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, or Vancouver, you won't have long to wait for LTE to come to your doorstep.

Rumor: BlackBerry 6.1 will be known as BlackBerry 7

Rumor is spreading fast from information that CrackBerry has received from "numerous sources" that RIM will be revealing, not OS 6.1, but rather OS 7 at the upcoming BlackBerry World conference. It seems that RIM has decided to re-brand the OS 6.1 update completely as BlackBerry 7 without adding any type of OS QNX to the design base. This sudden move may be a way to further separate the OS from the BlackBerry 6 name, and give the upcoming devices their own OS 7 flavor. However, rumor also has it that current phones running BB6 may not get any BB7 action right off the bat - which could make sense, given that new features like NFC are only present in upcoming devices. Keep in mind that all of this is as of now unconfirmed, but we hope to see that any changes won't affect the user in a difficult way. Will this affect you in how you see the upcoming OS?

Theme Review: Buuf Deuce by Guzzl3r - 25 copies to give away!

    3. Theme Reviews

Created by Guzzl3r, Buuf Deuce is a theme which is originally named, in my opinion. This theme has almost everything that a theme buyer would want, including a really nice looking HTC-style clock, custom-made icons, a hidden today, and room for extra icons on the homescreen, while delivering it to you perfectly.

The first look at this theme will leave you with a feeling that it is clunky-in the sense that it's an eyesore. However, using this theme for a few minutes will most definitely prove you wrong. The homscreen features a HTC-style clock with a weather slot, a dock, a hidden dock, and a normal banner with a clock, date and weather slot. Above this, there is a hidden today feature-click on the notifications bar, and a today screen shows up, with previews for your calendar items and new messages.

Many keyboard shortcuts are included, which are:
    • alt+D shows the first dock.
    • alt+S shows the second-hidden-dock.
    • alt+C hides the HTC clock and shows the normal banner.
    • Alt+X hides the banner and shows the HTC clock.
      And lastly;
    • The Escape button hides the dock that was active, so that you have no docks visible.

RIM aquires Tungle, a cloud-based scheduling application

Tungle.me, a cloud-based scheduling application that syncs your calender items will all your social networking accounts and your calendar program, has been acquired by RIM today. Hopefully, this will lead the way to additional features in the BlackBerry Operating system, which will most probably be widely embraced. Tungle already has a BlackBerry application, available here, but they should now discontinue development on it, while focusing on integrating it within RIM's OS. Tungle currently supports Microsoft Outlook, Google Calendar, iCal/Entourage, Lotus Notes, LotusLive, Windows Live, and Yahoo!

Today we are pleased to announce that Tungle has joined Research In Motion (RIM). We’re excited that the Tungle team is bringing their expertise in cloud-based, cross-platform, calendar management to the BlackBerry platform.

Tungle is a leading provider of cloud-based calendar and scheduling services that makes it easy for users to share their availability and schedule appointments regardless of their choice of desktop, mobile or cloud-based calendar. Tungle connects users on Google, Yahoo!, FaceBook, TripIt, Plancast, Outlook, iCal, LotusNotes, LotusLive, and WindowsLive. If you are not already familiar with them you can find out more about Tungle at Tungle.me | Scheduling Made Easy.

BlackBerry PlayBook drop test - will it survive?

How easily do tablets break if dropped? Apparently pretty easily according to the drop test performed by Square Trade on a new BlackBerry PlayBook. The drop tests were performed from waist-high as trying to simulate if you drop the tablet from a coffee table or on the street.

    • Drop #1 - Scratched the corners, broke glass in the corner
    • Drop #2 - Landed flat on the screen and shattered it

I'd like to see a drop test with the PlayBook in a few different style cases. Anyone willing to sacrifice theirs for the cause?
