Thread: First Picture Of BlackBerry Milan (Slider Device) Leaked!

The guys over at Crackberry have gotten their hands on a gem. The picture above is according to them the next generation BlackBerry 10 slider device codenamed "Milan." The device answers a few questions we've all been wondering about. Would there be a device with a keyboard on it? What would the keyboard be like?

The screen is beautiful and big and although no specs have been given, the Milan, like all other BlackBerry 10 devices, is said to have better screen display than the iPhone's retina display and other great features. This picture also shows us how we will no longer have buttons (aside from the keyboard) on the screen area. No more trackpad, call, end, BlackBerry, or back buttons.

I find it interesting that RIM changes the name of the OS to BlackBerry 10 last night (this morning in Singapore), they get ripped for it online, and all of a sudden a perfect picture of a new beautiful device gets leaked the next day. Way to deflect negative attention RIM.

Is it just me or does the photo quality look a bit fuzzy?

A few things if this photo is accurate...

The top part is very iPhone-ish.

I wish they would just leave the logo off the front and shorten the device.

The volume buttons are in the wrong place.

The angled edges aren't really necessary, just wasted space.

Would love to see a OS screenshot.

Overall, I think it's just a early mockup or completely fake photoshop job, and I lean toward a fake photoshop job.

It looks like the bottom piece doesn't belong with the top piece.

I love the no buttons too.

I think I just died a little inside. Then my OCD kicked in and I stared at the screen for a solid five minutes (okay longer) until I came to the conclusion that this must be fake. And a really bad fake, at that. I'd bet money that this phone is about as real as Pam Anderson's boobs. The ratio of length and width is totally un-BlackBerry-like. The edges are not even similar on all four corners. However I will have to disagree with you, Joe, on the volume buttons. From what I see of this picture, they're on the back piece of the slider phone that has the keyboard, so symmetrically speaking they would be in the appropriate place. For example, if the phone were closed, the volume buttons would appear to be further towards the top. And JT, I thought RIM lost the rights to officially use BBX and that's why they changed it to BlackBerry 10? Same diff, people will still use BBX as an abbreviation.

As for the buttons. I can deal with all of them except the loss of the trackpad. I honestly thought I would hate my 9900 because of the touchscreen, however I do quite enjoy that now. But that doesn't mean there aren't occasions when I need a little help from the trackpad because I'm touchscreen disabled. RIM really needs to reevaluate this plan, if you ask me. Which technically hadn't happened, but I decided to share anyways.
