New Mock-Up Appears For BBX Superphone?

An image has surfaced showing what appears to be a BBX superphone. No, nothing has been confirmed. This is really just pure speculation, but it does make sense give RIMs device history. In addition, more details regarding the BlackBerry Colt, RIMs first QNX based superphone have also surfaced.

Here are the specs we already know:
    • Single-core 1.2GHz processor (same as Bold 9900), word has it that the same dual-core processor in PlayBook is a huge battery killer, but a dual-core processor is still in the works and currently in working prototypes
    • 900+ screen resolution (could be same as PlayBook for easy transition of apps)
    • 4.x″ touchscreen
    Here are the new details:
    • Thinner than the Bold 9900, 9930
    • Similar outer stainless steel bezel unibody as the Bold 9900, 9930
    • TAT transitions coupled in BBX (see demo of it here)
    • Similar battery as PlayBook (no more battery pulls!)
    • No physical buttons
    • All swipe inner bezel
    • Front and back facing cameras, with enhanced flash and focus
There you have it. Now lets keep dreaming about owning one.

I will be really disappointed if the phone doesn't have a track pad.

This is interesting. I like the concept but given that i just picked up the 9850, would find it hard to purchase if this came out in 2012. looking forward to seeing and hearing of the specs and apps his will support.:cool2:

    no buttons!

I hope that's not true. The phone looks great but inconsistency is what is killing RIM. Keep what you know people like - the navigation button and the back key are as important as the physical keyboard. I'm getting tired of RIM changing its mind. Look at the iPhone - it's the best selling phone and hasn't changed (appearance-wise) since introduction. Easy to develop for too. With Blackberry, we have different screen sizes, rotating screen on some phones, others without; some are touch screen, some aren't. Next year, none of them will support the java apps that we've been developing for years. RIM needs to focus on what they know works, not try to imitate and forget about what has gotten them to where they are today. Keep the keyboard, keep the LED, keep the nav and back keys. That's my rant! Thank you

I for one would not miss any buttons. I think the current menu system is way to old and outdated. I have to click twice in some cases and then scroll through a menu in order to make my selection. I love the PlayBook's system of swiping for menu's, close apps, ect. Buttons aren't necessary when you have a solid OS.

Some things perhaps because the buttons are located at the bottom of the phone where the thumb is resting, but not for everything. Think about when you want to move an icon. It's faster with touch only. Plus with the current menu system gets clustered so I find myself having to scroll through a bunch of crap to get to what I want and it makes it slower than the swipe menu system based on the current opened app.
