RIM Fights Back After PlayBook’s Battery Life Claim
In a statement late Wednesday, RIM attempted to dispel concerns that the company’s new PlayBook tablet has a shorter battery life than the competition.
Yesterday, Kaufman Bros. analyst Shaw Wu claimed that the device has a battery life of just “a few hours,” compared to 6 and 10 hours for other devices. Here’s the statement from RIM according to Bgr:
“Any testing or observation of battery life to date by anyone outside of RIM would have been performed using pre-beta units that were built without power management implemented. RIM is on track with its schedule to optimize the BlackBerry PlayBook’s battery life and looks forward to providing customers with a professional grade tablet that offers superior performance with comparable battery life.”
Hopefully, the Kaufman Brother’s claim will prompt RIM to improve whatever battery life they initially planned after the Playbook’s power management is implemented.
