Thread: How to install Word Feud on your BlackBerry PlayBook [with pics]

Word Feud, the popular mobile word puzzle game, is currently only available for the iPhone, Android, and Windows Phone platform. In this highly addictive game, you can either play at your own pace, or participate in up to 30 games simultaneously, playing in a multi-playing mode frenzy! Ever since we have published the article from our very own BBOS Blogger, ice2921, on How To Sideload Android Apps On The BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0, a few people have been asking us, how do you install a game from the Android platform to the BlackBerry PlayBook?

Well, today I'm going to show you how to install and play Word Feud on your BlackBerry PlayBook. The process is fairly simple and only takes about 5 minutes, so you'll be up and playing in no time at all! Let's get started!

1) First you will need the Word Feud BAR file, which is available to Download Here.

2) Go to your BlackBerry PlayBook Options, click on Security, and then turn ON Development Mode (always pay attention to the Development Address 169.254.0.1)

3.) Turn on Development Mode, enter your password, confirm your password again.

4.) Plug in your BlackBerry PlayBook to an available USB port on your computer.

5.) Now open the DDPB Installer on your desktop, and then click on Add. Now look for the BAR file Word Feud you downloaded in step 1. (DDPB Installer is a .bar file side loader application. Click Here To Download DDPB)

6.) Once added, make sure you only select the file Word Feud (this confirms to the program you are only installing this file) for your BlackBerry PlayBook.

7.) Click on Install, and a little window will pop up showing the file is installing.

8.) If you see an OK, that means the file has successfully installed on your BlackBerry PlayBook.

9.) Now, look for the Word Feud icon on your BlackBerry PlayBook, and enjoy playing Word Feud.

10.) Thank you!

One tip for those who are having issues installing. When in the DDPB installer and you have already found and added the Word Feud.bar file, make sure to check the box under the install button that says "run on PlayBook after installing." This will complete the installation process.

For some reason when I didn't have this box checked the installation wouldn't finish.

Also, there is a chat feature. Just swipe down from the upper bezel to bring up the menu and you can chat with your opponent...

Just a small point: I guess one can switch off Development Mode once installation is successful?

Hello rafiki, I have been waiting for you to drop by and install Word Feud, I bet your wife must be very happy now

You can keep Development Mode on right up until it expires, or turn off (enter password), and you're good to go

Personally, I didn't have that issue, but I'm sure a few people may encounter it while installing.

Overall, game works flawlessly, and I'm very happy.

That's great to hear rafiki, I'm glad you and your wife didn't have to wait long for Word Feud to get it on the BlackBerry PlayBook.

Well, you have plenty of time. I found out that if you want to always be playing that you need to have quite a few games going at once. This is because someone may take a turn and then wait several hours before taking another turn. So thank goodness for the multi-player function.

My wife has been complaining recently that Wordfeud freezes very frequently now and she has to reboot the PB to continue. Has a new version been released which might be making her old version cause problems?

I wondered if the OS2 update would fix this but no luck unfortunately. The OH has still has to reboot frequently whilst playing WF.
