Thanks Ice for this superb contribution and for taking the time to enlight us in how to get the best out of our playbooks
I was trying to download apps from the android market .. but it asked for an id ... i put in my google id ... but it says no android device is attached to this id ... so what do i do?
Was able to download the apps to try and install on the PB ... everything went well ... till the time it was installing it ... then a error message popped up saying "error:Package id required" .... so if anyone can help it would be nice ....
Hi!! I have a quick question: How do you get the side-loader (DDPB) to recognize files in a format other than *.bar?
Some of the links to Android apps which have been verified to work on the PlayBook are staged in
*.zip format, and the side-loader won't recognize them. When the *.zip files are unwound, there isn't
a *.bar file included in the contents -- there's an actual directory structure. For example:
[App: eBay for Android, Version 1.8]
- The *.zip file for this app contains this:
unzip -l Android-eBay-1.8.zip
Length Date Time Name
-------- ---- ---- ----
1310 12-20-11 20:02 META-INF/MANIFEST.MF
599 12-20-11 20:02 META-INF/AUTHOR.SF
672 12-20-11 20:02 META-INF/AUTHOR.EC
599 12-20-11 20:02 META-INF/RDK.SF
280 12-20-11 20:02 META-INF/RDK.EC
3868779 12-20-11 19:53 android/eBay-18.apk
3229 12-20-11 19:58 android/res/drawable-hdpi/icon.png
3875468 7 files
This *.zip file was downloaded via the "Top 10 Android Apps To Sideload Onto Your Blackberry PlayBook" article.
I tried posting a link to it, but wasn't able to since I haven't posted much here for a while. :^(
DDPB won't do anything with the unwound directory content, either. Is there a tool out there that will create *.bar
files from directory content? Or, is there another work-around available?
Thanks so much for your help!
