Thread: How to force BlackBerry PlayBook OS update

With the many PlayBook OS updates (leaked or official) coming through the web recently, some of you have not been seeing these updates when you plug in your PlayBook & load Desktop Manager.

Well, thanks to Scott @ BBSync, we've finally found a workaround to force the update.

The steps are as follows:

• Open BlackBerry Desktop Software on your PC
• Do full backup on your tablet (should take 10-15 minutes)
• Go to Device > Update
• You will get a message “No Update Available”
• Press OK & keep your PlayBook connected via USB
• Press the Power Off app then select Restart
• Once the PlayBook boots up, you will be prompted to do the update (update will take 30-40 minutes)

Apparently this is also the way that RIM will be resolving bricked PlayBooks, as the filename that downloads actually has ".debrick" in it.

No, OS 2.0 is currently in BETA.

Right now all we can do is just wait and when they get pushed out.

is it possible to load os 2 once i have tha bar file, if yes plis ,let me no hw

OS 2.0 do not come in .bar files. If you want the beta version of OS 2.0 you can register and try it out. Other than that OS 2.0 will be pushed out OTA when available.

i hav a bar file of 2.0.0.711 and 2.0.0.4869 and ihave tried upgrading by registering, twice, i neva receive my upgrade notification, thats y i wanna try loading bars.

Oh I misread what your were saying before. Sorry, yes if you have the local os .bar files there are a few ways to load them. I suggest you open a new thread under the PlayBook section rooting section. This will start a clean thread and will be easier to keep track of.

i need your help in restoring my play book. i did a security wipe on my play book and since then could not set it up again.
when ever i try to set it up it gets to the agreement stage without showing any list of country and language for me to chose from so i can't accept the agreement and can't move forward from there. kindly assist to resolve this.

I would suggest you open a new thread in the Playbook section. That way we can help you better.
