Rooting PB v2.0.0.7971

Hi there

Finally picked up a PB ... loving it! However does anyone know of a way of rooting the PB with firmware version 2.0.0.7971?

Ive had a look around and seems that Dingleberry has released the source code for it but cannot anything thereafter for it. Also wondering whether sidebar is an alternative option or can I use something to dwongrade the firmware to an earlier version and then use an old version of Dingleberry to do the deed?

In a nutshell, I would like to place Android Marketplace on my PB!

Any pointers would be very much appreciated.

OS 2.0.0.7971 cannot be rooted or downgraded. Although some reports are saying that Dingleberry is dead, that is not completely true as part of the team is still working on it. You can still sideload android apps.

Hello, everyone.

It seems what I have read today from various sources, it has been confirmed that the DingleBerry Project 4.0 is officially dead.

The DingleBerry Team has released their source code, to anyone who wishes to either continue the project or hope someone, someday, and someway, will find an exploit to root BlackBerry PlayBook latest Official OS v2.0.0.7971.

As ice has mentioned above, anyone can still side load free applications to the PlayBook by visiting this thread, How To Sideload Android Apps On The BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0

From everything I read on the web, from various sources, many websites and other media made it look like the DingleBerry Project was a dead duck, but now from DownForce's post, which I sincerely appreciate, it doesn't look like that way at all.

I would like to apologize to the DingleBerry Team if I may have prematurely accepted the fact their work in progress was not current.

Uh, I hope he understands that the Alpha device is not a BB 10 device.

But the OS is really what matters getting familiar with the ins and out of how an OS will work is the first step in finding a exploit.

I don't know that. I'm guessing if he can't root 2.0.1, that he will create a hack that will be able to downgrade your tablet to be able to install the jailbreak.

Its a no go right now, there are exploits for it. However, not on the level of releasing something to the general public.
