Thread: Mupen64Plus-PB - Nintendo 64 Emulator For BlackBerry PlayBook

CatalystG has posted via the OSBB blog, the N64 Emulator for PlayBook. Those of you who are fans of the old school Nintendo 64 console will be able to now enjoy those classic 3D games right from your BlackBerry tablet. This emulator adds to the growing list of gaming emulators that have already made their way to the PlayBook. These include:

• DOSBox DOS Emulator for PlayBook
  
• Nintendo NES Emulator for PlayBook
  
• Super Nintendo SNES Emulator for PlayBook
  
• Sony PlayStation Emulator for PlayBook
  
• iOS Emulator for PlayBook (coming soon)

Now here are some instructions on how to install and download from CatalystG:

Usage
Download the .bar file and sideload it using the newest DDPB or similar tool.

Loading Games
*Disclaimer: We will not help obtaining games or any other files. Search elsewhere.

1. To create the necessary folder structure, run Mupen64Plus-PB before trying to add roms.
2. You should be shown an empty dialog box.
3. Press “Cancel” and the application will exit.
4. Next, connect your PlayBook to your computer or enable wireless sharing.
5. Open “My Computer” and select the BlackBerry network drive.
6. Navigate to misc/n64/roms/ and copy your legally obtained games here.
7. The dialog for picking games will also allow you to change the video plugin or disable the sound. At a minimum, a rom and at most one video plugin need to be used.

Hi-Res Textures:
To load Hi-Res textures:

1. Run the target game first to create the needed folders.
2. Find the texture packs online and copy into /misc/n64/hires_texture/[game]
3. Start up the game and wait for it to load as it will take longer.

Save/Load States:
Save/load state buttons are located in the top left/right corners. To hide these, tap the top middle of the screen.

Oh this is gonna make my Playbook a all in one game console!
All what needs to be done is make a Dreamcast one so we can also play some old school Sega games

What do u need help on?

My only issues is that I want to play smash brothers and it super super super su........ per lags =(

I did everything as I should.
But when I install rom's it shows as a heap of different small files.
Not sure what im doing wrong... Same goes for most of these kind of programs...

I really need to pull the finger out and dl this

yup u did it correctly lol.. you have to trial and error to find out which of the files to click when you open the emulator. its a bad system but that is how it works.

Where can I get roms for mupen64 for my playbook? I have downloaded the emulator but I can not find a website with the roms, any help will be much appreciated.

You will need to search on your own for that we do not provide ROM's nor do we provide any links to sites that provide them.Sorry.
