The popular weather app BeWeather from BellShare has just showed up in App World today for the BlackBerry PlayBook! BeWeather HD brings a ton of customization options to modify its looks, and default weather parameters. It sure seems like it took long enough to get t his app out to PB, and yet it has a bug...
maybe they rushed too fast then?

font color picker doesn't work

This is from the Bellshare developer made on another site:

If you take a look at the app you will notice that it is not a simple repackaging of our Android version. Our original Android version never worked on Playbook Android Runtime.

This version has been heavily customized to make the user experience feel as native as possible to the Playbook.

Some of the features this app provides using the Android Runtime wouldn't have been possible to implement in a native/AIR app.

If RIM decides to drop the non-native task switching for Android apps this app couldn't be distinguished from a native/AIR Playbook app.

It's not getting good reviews right now for whatever reason. I'm sure it has potential being from Bellshare though. For me the AccuWeather app on PB does fine and for a lot of folks I'm sure. I do use the paid version of BEWEATHER on my handheld tho.

The statement from Bellshare sure sounds like they have NO intention on developing a NATIVE BeWeather for the PlayBook. Hummm

This app is basically not that cool without a updated weather icon/info from homescreen. As goes for any weather app.

Thanks for the info. The icon notification is very important so I don't always have to go into the actual app. Maybe Bellshare will add this feature.
