I note that Whatsapp cannot be activated on a mobile phone and a Playbook using the same mobile number. However I can't see why assigning a number from one of those free pay as you go SIMs shouldn't work. Anyone tried it?

Can anyone teach me how to activate whatsapp on my PB? Keyed in my mobile number but then....? No idea how to go on from there.

Hello rafiki,

Yes, WhatsApp cannot work using 2 devices with the same number.

I don't see why using a pay-as-you-go mobile plan wouldn't work using WhatsApp Messenger for your BlackBerry device, but from what I read on WhatsApp FAQ, says it works through your existing internet data plan of your device (BIS data plan) to operate, no mention of WiFi in case you're wondering.

Yes, you can use WhatsApp Messenger on the BlackBerry PlayBook, here's how;

• Enter your phone number as per normal.

• When the verification fails, it asks if you want to be called instead. Choose ‘Call Me’

• Now you will receive a phone call with a three digit number that you can enter in to Whatsapp.

• Now you’re all activated with Whatsapp on your Playbook.

Please Note: If you are using Whatsapp on your BlackBerry as well, you will have to re-install on phone to have the app start working again. You can not run the app on both devices at the same time.

Thx! But if I need to sacrifice one device running whatsapp, it'll be my PB.

I found an Android version converted into BAR format.. it works great on my PB!
