Thread: keyboard issues - any idea's guys?

so I'm trying to troubleshoot this before I head out to by a new keyboard.

It's adding a number after a letter automatically. It's only the bottom line.

Heres an example

I type in blackberryos.com and it fills in blac3kberryos.9c3om7

z1 x2 c3 v4 b n m7 ,8 .9 /

I've done a system restore to back date it to before the issue but it's still there. To the best of my knowledge nothing was spilt on the keyboard it's self.

I'm wondering if it's a weird macro or something.

You don't have a spare keyboard to try? How about a linux live CD?

Nope no spare. What's the linux live cd?

Like Ubuntu or Fedora... Just a CD with a bootable OS. Takes the Windows OS out of the equation when troubleshooting. I'd probably just buy a cheap keyboard and see if it works or not. Is there a small local computer store near you? There's one by me that has just a bin of second hand keyboards that they sell for $5 each.

Sounds like the keyswitch matrix has a short in it somewhere. Probably a good idea to find an el-cheapo replacement, and see if it solves the problem. Otherwise, if it is a PS/2 style keyboard, the port on the motherboard may have gone bad.
