Well, I did that yesterday. I am still working on installing DM on the PC... Taking forever. I finally got a hold of the proper cable for hubby's Curve and tried it on my machine. No problems. Recognized it immediately. So that makes it drivers or my Storm- right? I would assume the drivers are different for different device models.
And I meant to mention that BB Device Manager, Device Connection says COM 3 Disconnected.
Okay so can you connect it?

It must not be my device- finally got DM installed on hubby's PC- no problems connecting to it- got a backup created on his machine.
So- we are back to driver issues I suppose!
I reinstalled DM off the CD and am currently updating through DM.

Got everything installed, updated, etc. Plugged device in. Got notice saying installing, got notice BB smartphone driver software installed successfully. BB smartphone installed.
Then device screen went white w/error message and rebooted. Didn't get error info- gone too quickly.
It actually didn't reboot- blank screen, red LED, no response to buttons or screen tap. Still connected to laptop.
I was working on a path to configure for BlueTooth.
DM has a configuration for BlueTooth transfers that works quite well.
But it looks like you have surpassed my option.
I would do multiple battery pulls now until I could get my Berry to boot the OS.
Well, I went into install hardware and reinstalled the RIM virtual ports, then rebooted. After the laptop came back up, I plugged the device in- got the same error, but then autoplay came up listing F: and G:. Very odd- only one thing plugged in. It let me back up my device, but disconnected in the middle. I was able to get it reconnected and backed up.
