Thread: Storm 3 Launch Date...Possibly October!

Well it's about time we hear some news about a possible BlackBerry Storm 3 9570 release! What is even more exciting is it may be released in October on Verizon! What will it look like? What will it include? It will include OS 6 but some reports are saying that it will still feature the SurePress technology. I suppose we will have to wait until more information is available before any of us get too alarmed. Even so, SurePress may not be a bad thing. If it's not just a Storm 2 refresh, as some are speculating it is, then perhaps the hardware has been updated too.

What makes some of us wonder is, with the release of the 9800 BlackBerry Torch and its capacitive touch screen, why wouldn't the Storm 3 follow suit? I guess we will have to see as more information becomes available. But for now, what do you think about the possibility of the Storm 3 being introduced in October? Would you rather the SurePress technology or the new capacitive screen featured on the Torch?

Well if it is October that excites me since I'm still rocking the 9530 and my upgrade is in Oct. And please keep the surepress not only because is the unique characteristic that the Storm line is, but I've loved the idea of a clicking screen since day one.

It most likely is an upgraded SurePress. Recent news says it will have OS 6 but older rumors were that it was to have its own new OS. Don't you love rumors??

I think you may be right on all accounts here. Look for a revamped storm 2 around mid to late October. This will have 512 mb memory with OS 6 and the sure press keyboard.

Look forward to the new year where I think your going to see the true storm 3 released. This will more than likely come with the capcacitive keyboard, 1 gig of memory and it's own OS.

RIM has really missed the mark with the Torch, sales clearly show that. But was RIM hanging they're hat on the Torch? I don't think so. In order to compete with the :AR15firing: Iphone 4 they need something bigger and better. The slider is untested territory for RIM and I think you won't see another one. The Storm on the other hand is one of their top selling phones and has the ability to compete with the:AR15firing: Iphone.

Time will tell

I'm still with my 9530, and the SurePress screen is probably my favorite thing about it (though I do get tired of explaining how to use it to everyone who picks up my phone to play with it).

Unfortunately, I'm pretty fed up with RIM's seeming inability to release an OS that isn't broken in some way, and I may find myself picking up a DROID when I'm due for an upgrade. Unless, of course, RIM and VZW release an LTE device before anyone else...

I'm thinking the October release is going to be the "updated" storm2 and NOT the storm3.

I'm holding out for the Storm3 and am REALLY hoping that this device does not have the SurePress. While originally I loved it, i'm actually getting pretty sick of it. I type just fine with it. my biggest annoyance with it is the click noise that it makes. I would much prefer to have a device that does not make any noise as I type an email during a meeting. To me, the click sound is very loud. Maybe i'm overreacting to the noise, but it bothers me and that is enough. Clearly, OS6 can operate on a non-SurePress device (see Torch) and that is what I am looking for in the Storm 3....or at the very least, the Storm 4 - whic you know is being worked on and will be released a year after the Storm 3

it aint a Storm if it aint got SurePress. surepress is the best thing since the touchscreen.
