Thread: Straight Talk-Samsung Behold

I have seen many people online say you can use any unlocked cell phone with straight talk. I contacted Straight Talk and they said that you can only use thier phones. I want to switch to Straight Talk from T-Mobile but I don't like thier phone selection and would like to keep using my Behold if possible. Does anyone know how this can be done? I am not up on all of the technical stuff so you would have to use layman's terms with me.

If straight talk is a CDMA carrier and your phone is GSM only it will not work on the straight talk network.

So would it be possible then to use a Verizon phone? They are CDMA aren't they?

Straight Talk is going to tell you no, cause they want to make money... However, some of their phones have SIM cards, or GSM like ATT & T-Mobile has. Other ones are CDMA, such as Verizon and Sprint. If you have a SIM card with your phone, just go buy a cheap phone from Straight Talk (like 30 bucks) get it turned on, service activated (you can keep your old number by porting it) and once the phone is up and running, get your old phone you want unlocked, and switch your SIM cards out... When you turn it on, and it doesn't work, take the battery out while the phone is on, and wait 30-60 seconds, then replace the battery and turn it on, and it should work.. Make sure you FULLY unlock the phone, or else you won't be able to use the internet or send pic messages... You will only be able to make and receive calls, and send standard SMS text messages.
