Thread: HELP!! Problems with device recogn after upgrade

Hi All,
I recently upgraded my tour os to .230, liked it very much, but it had a few glitches. I decided to try and wipe my tour, reinstall .230, databases and then readd my 3rd party apps to see if it would run smoother. I could not get bbsak to connect to my device, so I used a security wipe to remove 3rd party apps. I then used app loader to put on .230. Since the reinstallation, I cannot get my device to load many of my 3rd party apps (pocketday pro, berry annoying, L theme, etc.) When I use application installer in dm, I get a message that my device is not compatible with this software and it cannot be loaded (these were all apps that were working well with the first .230 install--before my 'wipe' misadventure). At first, I thought that they couldn't be loaded after .230 was on my bb (they had all been in place prior), so I actually downgraded to a 4.7* os and tried to reload them--same error message. I've since re installed .230, have some of my old 3rd party apps (quicklaunch, beyond 160, bbalerts), but cannot get the remainder to load with dm (same error message about my device not being compatible). Can anyone help....please. I've only had the tour (my first bb) about 2 mos and thought I was getting the hang of it, but I'm stuck here. :aargh4: mfg:Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Have you tried to OTA these apps? Let's start with that...

Hi, slowly adding apps using ota, am having trouble with the browser (very slow, not loading well). I put on opera mini 4.2 and that has helped, so far, I have pocket day pro and berry annoying back.

Will I ever be able to use computer installs again? Incidentally, I did have a backup of my 3rd party apps before all this started, i followed the directions in this link

but when I tried to access it, my app loader and dm didn't recognize it as a valid file.

I was able to restore my 3rd party apps using ota, however, when I try to do that using dm, I get the message 'not compatible with this device' (for apps that were previously installed using dm)mfg:. Does anyone know if there is a way I can correct this so that I can use dm to install apps if I need to?

did you make sure you were opening the .alx for the back up and not the individual files in there?

did you make sure you were opening the .alx for the back up and not the individual files in there?

Also I noticed if you have multiple copies of the apps floating around your computer, they will in a sense corrupt each other. Delete all of the files you have saved on your computer and then make one backup after that and everything should work fine again! :fing02:
