Thread: OS6 and the 9700, When?

Guys, the more I think about it, the more I believe that we will not see an OS6 version for the 9700 until the 9780 has been released and a good few devices sold.

It makes sense (even though I hate it) that RIM would not release the 0S6 which would prevent a lot of people from buying a new device just for some more memory (who needs that anyway) and a better camera.

I myself will never buy a 9780 if I can get the OS6 for my 9700.

Question is, when will the 9780 release? Whenever that is confirmed, add an extra couple of months to that date and that's when we might see the new OS.......... Very sad but in my opinion realistic.

Makes sense to me... I am pretty bitter that not only can I not get OS 6 for my 9550, but now the rumor is that Verizon has canceled the 9570! Very lame and disappointing.

While I agree with most of your train of thought, RIM has released OS6 to both AT&T and T-Mobile mid September. We have heard news of T-Mobile's pre-release testing while AT&T has been silent about their progress.

I think AT&T will likely not release OS6 for the 9700 until they reasonably believe they have reached peak sales for the 9800, and unfortunately that could take a while. Therefore, our best hope for seeing OS6 would come from a T-Moble leak/official download.

Just my humble opinion; this and $1.73 will get you a large coffee at Jack in the Box.
