    Just an interesting update:

My brother when to exchange his storm2 (still had 30 days to exchange) to a droid x. As he walks in the verizon store the employee that helped us when he got the phone was there and asked him what he needed today. There just so happen to be a few people with suits on and verizon badges having a "pow-wow" in the middle of the store too.
This is how the conversation went:

Brother:"I want to exchange the storm for a droid X.

    Employee:"Why? don"t you like the storm 2."

Bro:"I like the phone just fine, But I heard that the storm 2 wasn't going to be compatible with the new Blackberry 6".

Emp:"Where did you you here that?"

    Bro:"I read about it"

(at this point one of the gentlemen from the group of suits, over hearing the conversation, glanced at my brother and the employee with a puzzled face. "thinking: how did you know that?" And gave a knod to the employee. being in agreement with my brother.)

I consider this conformation for me. though I hope there is still something for us storm 2 users to be happy about.

The funny thing is I bet he (the gentleman) just come out of a meeting the day before where it was announced that the storm 2 was not compatible with OS6:laugh2:

Well I guess theres gonna be A LOT of disappointing BB owners. 90% of the devices wont support it. Time to start saving since I have 3 yrs on my contract with Telus. Save up and out right buy a new device. We will see what's up.:aargh4::aargh4:

RIM always makes shortcoming version! ST1 is an instance. ST1 does not have wi-fi even though RIM knows that! ST2 has wi-fi but just 256MB of RAM while RIM know that OS 6.0 can not run with low RAM --> ST3 releases and then,...ST4. This kind of trading like cheated.
Let's look at some other phones: Iphone, Droid, Nokia,...they always have new features, new technology,...while RIM just make shortcoming version...
    Bye bye RIM

You are wrong on part 2...

OS6 CAN run on 256RAM look at the 9300 Curve...
The issue here is not the RAM it is the Storm2. The Storm2 touchscreen (SureType) and other entities of the Storm2 make it so that 256RAM is not enough for that device. When RIM made the S2, OS 6 was not in production yet. So lets not go around saying that RIM knew this would happen.

IF THEY KNEW WHY WOULD THEY LET IT HAPPEN???

I agree they probably didn't know OS6 needed more than 256 of ram on the storm line. But I bet they did plan on stepping up their OS. The storm 1 only had 128. Why take baby steps when creating a revolutionary device. they boasted about their surepress technology but crippled the OS with a small amount of memory. Everyone was shrinking their OS to make room for apps. or just to make the phone run better. I'm sure someone at RIM suggested to put 256 MB in the S1. They probably got laughed at. The first Touch screen device and they decided that 256 was too much memory for it. Having seen the shortcomings of the S1, they improve the phone with the S2 ten fold on the screen, increased the memory which was absolutely necessary, and added wifi which was just a bonus. Processor is the same. What did they do? fixed the storm 1 with a storm 2. What are they going to do? fix the S2 with a Storm 2 Refresh device.... and probably call it a storm 3. At least the specs for the "Odin Refresh" device is more like a upgrade. better camera, better wifi, I hope they think to put 1gb of ram in it (if they put 512 then I will be disappointed). then when and if they release a storm OS like rumored in the storm 3 spec. those of us that buy the storm 2.5 (refresh.... or what ever they call it) we might be able to run that OS with out any problems of it being almost enough ram to do it.

I see these advanced devices like the Droid X and think, they really equipped the device with the odds someone will be using their device for a couple of years. Smart phone manufacturers will always be upgrading their OS platform to keep up with the leaps of innovation. why not think ahead and put the goods into a device unless you don't intend on your users to use the same device for a year or more. (this only would apply on people that seek out the latest and greatest to load on their phones, which is why you scour the forums like here) Sounds more like " I can sell two devices if i don't make the first smart enough for the future innovations". Manufacturers are out to make money as they should. At some point there has to be a balance.

My apologies on a very long post . I'm speaking what most of us are probably thinking anyway.

I really loved my S2 but with this kinda news I'm a little glad I got a 9650 now. I can't wait for OS6 to drop and see what hybrids emerge. Who knows, maybe the S2 answer will come in a hybrid.

As many S2 users as I think they are (I might be wrong), someone will figure it out hybrid or not. I know I'll try anything. :laugh2:
