I've watched this video a good 2 or 3 times now, not because of how beautifully the OS flows but out of curiosity of how it will look on those phones that aren't touch screen. I admit, on the storm (as previewed in the YouTube video) it is a very gorgeous OS; however on those devices that don't sport a touch interface it leaves a bit of emptiness. Putting that minimal negativity aside OS 6 is looking better and better with every sneak peak they throw at us!
Along with the sneak peak released by RIM, they also stated: "which is on track for release this summer." Not 100% sure about you all, but I'm excited to have some new software for the 8520! This 5.0 is great and all, but I'm noticing more and more glitches as I move along using it.
In the video they show some great new features that the OS comes with, instead of just showing us still images. The global search for example is a great addition (Granted it should have been added way back when, better late than never though!). I'm also very interested in the "Special Friends" application they showed vaguely in the video. From what I managed to put together from viewing the video, it looks like an application where you simply mark someone as "Special", which then puts them in this category that you can mass distribute information or updates to your "Special Friends".
All in all, I'm excited for OS 6.0. I do think RIM is moving in an excellent direction. So what are you guys thinking? Does the video spark any interest or is it showing off what's already been seen?
