Webkit Browser Demoed in the Wild
Did you do a double-take on reading that headline? Well it looks like Willy Boy uploaded a YouTube demo of the Web-kit Browser in action on a 9800 slider. Enough talking, see for yourself!

A couple of things I noticed that should be be pointed out.
- Its fast. That's all there is to say about that.
- It is not tied to the service books provided by your carrier.
- Pinch-to-Zoom works.
- Tabbed Browsing works.
The great thing about the Web-Kit browser not being tied to the service books is that the internal cod files might be extractable. This means your carrier has not been blocking the new browser from running. Is it an OS6 specific file? Could we see it on another OS6-ready device like the 9670 Clamshell? Maybe even get it on OS 5 device? These are exciting times to be in the Blackberry world.

horrible. OMG RIMM fail. Tabs, pinch to zoom(very skippy)...but look at how slow it loads up the page when u scroll it up and down! It is not smooth at all. im dissapointed ;'(

This seems to be a serious attempt at fixing one of the biggest problems in the BlackBerry experience. Looks better and smoother than the existing browser as is....can't wait to see it in action hands on

Thats not the browser's fault. The rendering is handled in WebKit and passed on to the processor. You're looking at is the processor that isn't keeping up, which is not untypical on a demo of an OS on a unreleased device.

It seems like you aren't really considering all the factors in what goes into a demo.

No im not. I just said what i felt after iwatched the video, straight facts, no guesses. :22:

But i do realize that it could be better when it will come out. :hail:

What you see is a frame buffer, ALL browsers do that. You just don't see it but that's because on your computer its done very quickly. You will see it on a slower processor or on an incomplete product.

What you're also seeing is a browser being demo'ed on an older build of the OS with a camera that isn't the best.

Judge it when it comes out.

from what i can see its faster now than any droid or i phone pictures that ive seen, the screen change is fast, so if its that fast now just wait until all the kinks are out. WOW!!!

well i cant see anything the video has been removed it says it was removed for violating terms of agreement or something like that....
